It seems to me that (if there was a war/rivalry between the two) that Prince won the war hands down.

In fact, I have a St.Paul newspaper from earlier this year that has a frontpage headline about Prince being nominated for the rock and roll hall of fame and on the very same page Michael JAckson's mugshot with the story of him being charged with child molestation charges (again). Sure they were neck and neck in '84, but but what a difference 20 years makes.Prince won the war.

Its all a bit silly really though,because there is space for both and each set of fans shouldnt take enjoyment out of the others misfortune.

It's an obvious dig @ MJ who said in an interview that he had his nose done so he could hit higher notes. I think there's mutual respect at this point, that there was some serious rivalry in the 80ies (even more from Prince towards MJ than the other way around). It's obvious Prince made MJ references throughout his career, but except for the 'pathetic'-comment, which was at the hight of the rivalry, none of the references were meant to diss MJ, just to make a point about Prince himself.
