The only way Musicology can be a top 40 hit

it looks like the only way the Musicology single can be a top 40 hit in billboard is if they release
as a cd single here in the U.S..even tho Mtv and vh-1 have the video in heavy rotation &
Prince is having a record breaking tour it seems as if all the top 40 radio programmers in the U.S have decided not to play it..it has only 2 spins this week! 3 weeks ago there was a song that hit #4 on the billboard hot 100 by Clay Aiken that got virtually no aiplay but still charted at #4 based only on cd single sales..a similar lack of airplay has also hurt Prince's I Hate U a few years back when the song was #5 in sales but was in the #60's in airplay (funny how the public can make it a #5 hit on sales and yet the radio programmers still refuse to play it)

as for the album i still predict it debut's in the top 5 despite the free cd giveaways and i think this time the album will stick around for awhile instead of drop down the charts rapidly like the last few Prince albums
Check it out ...Shiny Toy Guns R gonna blowup VERY soon and bring melody back to music..you heard it here 1st! http://www.myspacecomment...theone.mp3

The video has only been playing for a week. Given Prince's long absence from pop charts, it's not surprising pop radio is slow to react. If people request it after seeing the video or the album charts, airplay will increase. It could also crossover from Urban -- over 400 spins this week on these stations, plus ITune has it as top pop download.

Radio nowadays, is a money hungry, industry driven monster. The Dj's play what they're told to, or are allowed to play. We're not talking Mojo (from the old Detroit days) anymore. We're talking a rotation of the same 10 songs daily. So...there's no room anyway!

Dammit! If I here that Usher song with Lil' Jon screaming "Yeah!" one more time, I'm gonna fucking scream!

Blue music <---that's why I where these...

honestly, i doubt that many of the consistent top40 listeners will be rushing to their phones to request the title track from this album (except, of course, for some people who live here on planet org); it simply isn't that good a track, sad to say (just my opinion, of course). Hopefully, though, wise decisions will be made regarding what the ensuing singles will be. Let's hope somebody else is making that call, and not Prince. Cinnamon Girl would do well on pop charts, I think. The lyrics alone provide quite an imaginary image for a stunning video.

I love the album but the song's really just not that good.

Illusion, Coma, Pimp & Circumstance-Now THERE is some goddamn funky stuff.

That or A Million Days would be a great choice for a second single.

Even though I love this song, I dont think it will chart very well. It's just not top 40 material (thank goodness). I agree Illusion, Coma, or Million Days will be played, they are just too good.

back in 1987 "Hot Thing" was getting unbelivable Sales yet did not chart very well because it was released to R&B format only and the Flip side ICNTTPOYM went top 10 POP with very little airplay at least in Baltimore.

"Gett Off " in 1991 was like a top 5 sales single, but because of no airplay never charted. "Cream" came along and went #1

yes but that was a different time when Airplay didnt mean as much as it does now..since many artists stopped releasing singles they had to change the chart to make airplay much more important...in 1991 and 1987 you had to release a cd single to get a chart postion..today you don't but it's still important
