Okay i gotta get this off my chest

why must everyone Clown Prince simply because of his choice of Belief?. i mean c'mon none of u would like it if his people were on this message Board clowning what any one of you folks have faith in,how he chooses to praise God is his path, and he doesnt need our approval, ya'll get mad because he doesnt cuss or do this and do that.

its called spiritual Growth a blind man could see it.when people get Older the intellect becomes more sharpened, and his has, should it matter that he's a witness, or doesnt cuss, or changes the lyrics in any of his songs?..No it shouldnt,

some of ya'll really need to come to grips on a person's growth, how u precieve a person in your world doesnt mean they are that person in reality,so again i ask please enough with the Jw bashin' im not a witness mind you, but i think its a lil unfair to knock someone's choice of truth. in closing i leave u with a quote

"the the log out of your eye before u remove the splinter from your brother's "

You make such a great point! I try to tell people the same thing but they just don't understand! Prince worship God the way he wants to not how other people want him to! nod

There's absolutely nothing wrong with intellectual growth. Hell, it happens to damn near everyone who sets foot on the planet. However, I miss his open-mindedness. It seems the older he gets the more bigoted he gets. That's what I take issue with.

Agreed. He's telling us what "the truth" is, rather than what he believes the truth to be...there's a certain level of proselytizing. Still love him, tho, so...that's that.

And what's wrong with proselytizing? When one worships wholeheartedly, they want to share that truth with others. You still have the option to take it or leave it nod .
And 'Cloud, I'm curious to know what you find to be bigoted?

I think it's probably because it seems like his music had more passion and life when it was more born out of lust and other worldly things than it does when it's biblical-passage based. Musically, I wish he would return to some of his older ways because I tend to agree with the previous statement. However spiritually, I think it's great he's found his path to God and peace in his life.

Because good messages shouldn't have to be force-fed...if they're strong enough, people will be drawn to it naturally. And you're right...I should "leave it," but I'm an addict of the music.

As far as I know when JW's come to your house you can open the door, or leave it closed. And as for the old Prince being more "open minded", well obviously he was open minded enough to look into the bible for himself and take up a believe that he wanted to.....Has anyone (record companies) ever been able to "force feed" Prince to do anything.....i don’t think so buddy. lol

Co-sign with Finess. I'm not a JW either, but I get sick of everyone slamming them all the time. Some of the Witnesses on this site are really wonderful people, and its truly sad that they get bashed just for having a belief system that some find unorthodox. Would it be okay if Prince had converted to the Jewish or Islamic faiths to bash him then? You don't have to agree with the faith, just be respectful. There are peoples feelings you are trampling all over.

I understand that some are frustrated because Prince isn't the same person as he was when he was younger, but that's life. As with most artists, he expresses himself through his art. If you don't like the message he's conveying now you have a choice: you can either tune it out and listen to the music, or you can choose to ignore his post-1997 output. Bitching about it constantly won't change his mind, so what's the point? Personally, I take what I want from Prince's message, and ignore the rest (for that matter, I do that with all of my favorite artists).

Don't get it twisted as if you are the epitome of open-mindedness and as if your views etc have not or will not become more conservative as you get older. Ive seen certain things where you've kept quiet about bigoted views so if Prince feels a certain view dont get your pannies ina bunch cause you(we) choose what we want to be open-minded about and it's nobodys busines. Defend him all you want, you have every right to but you ain't gonna sway me. I see him as a holier-than-thou character these days. Also, I ain't getting anything twisted and neither am I claiming to be the epitome of anything. Never have, never will do.

Also, I'd like you to point out where I've kept quiet about certain bigoted views. Has it not crossed your mind that perhaps I can't respond to every post here. Get to know me a bit better before you start attacking me, please.

nobody is attacking you or defending anyone else..it is simply being pointed out certain behaviors or non behaviors that can be tossed to the opposite view as well...and silence can be louder than words yes. And acting as if you've never seen it here and never spoke on it as much as yo azz is here is quite telling...but lets just keep being bitter about Prince and his so called "bigoted views" ..it's much easier to live that way.

I've spoken out against prejudice and bigotry quite a few times, thank you.

And I'm more disappointed than bitter.

I think societies view of the JW's is not a positive one so it's easy for some people to jump on the bandwagon and criticise P's conversion to them.

So once upon a time, he was telling us to fuck until the dawn, that incest is great, etc. Now he's occassionally telling us we should read the bible.

I'm kinda lost in what some of you guys think the definition of being 'force fed' is.

You're right. Were they being force fed about head, incest, "let's pretend we're married"??
Nah, 'cause nobody here had a problem with that. But when it comes to spiritual things, people get all defensive and upset. Relax. Prince is just a man and you're not being judged. Trust me, you'll know when you're being judged

I agree. I find JW-ism more agreeable than most other faiths, actually.
Although I am an atheist myself, I think that if you do believe in a religion, it's only natural to believe in it totally - let's face it, if you do believe completely in a god, in an afterlife or whatever, that must take over your life. It has to.

And if you believe in it, you'll share it.

No-one would make fun if P became a Muslim. If you can't take him banging on about his faith, I think it is you who is closed-minded.
