Rave?

Hi,

A few people seem to suggest purchasing Rave from the web site and not retail shops. Whats the difference in them?

They might be referring to the remix album.

You can purchase Rave UN2 The Joy Fantastic from any usual retailer, but the remix album Rave IN2 The Joy Fantastic is only available through Prince's official online store.

There are several remixes and a couple of slightly extended versions on the mix album, plus a song not available on the regular album, Beautiful Strange (although there is also a song omitted from the remix CD too).

I'm sure someone will post a tracklist, I don't care for either LP to be honest, so I can't say I know the exact differences between the two CDs.

I had Rave and didn't like it too much. Someone (anxiety) recommended it, so I got it. It's only available on the website (or on ebay for double the price). After getting the remix album, I feel like I wasted money on the store version.

Much better:
Rave Un2 the Joy Fantastic - Sounds like its just another dance remix. But it goes off and veers into places that is quite unexpected.
Undisputed - Way tighter. How can I put my back when you're frontin. Funky
Hot wit U - So now we know how P sings nasty girl lol Great funky remix and quite errie!
Greatest Romance: More lovelyness stretched to 8 minutes.
Man O' War - Good remix
Beautiful Strange is really good...but he took off Strange, but true, which I liked.
Pretty Man - Don't know the differences. But This song is HOT HOT HOT. I have been playing it non stop since I heard it. A classic in the same vain as the work and musicology.

Also the liner notes and packagin are better as you get more pics in the booklet and they are really good.

I still feel on the whole, it's an uneven album. I like the above mentioned songs, but the rest are just ok imo. I also think this is the version that should have been released to the public.

I've said to my best friend that Prince must have intentionally wanted to fail with this cd. I was extremly disappointed with the store version, especially after hearing the Greatest Romance ever Sold and it remixes. The album was so disappointing. Then the club sent the IN2 version. I was livid. Prince could have released this and truly stirred up some contreversy.

Oh, by the way, the In2 version of Rave is closer to the original. The original as supposed to go on the Batman album (I think) but was replaced by Partyman.
