Picture This: Prince, Wendy & Lisa Together Again

As much as I thoroughly enjoyed the Musicaology concert in OKC, I will say what I know so many of his admirers are thinking: I wish Wendy and Lisa would get over whatever it is they're going through and reunite with the man that put them (musically) on the map. I dream about a tour featuring the original members of The Revolution getting together for a tour called "Revolutions" and playing their collective hearts out. I am a big fan of Wendy and Lisa as well as Girl Bros., but it's not enough to sustain my love and admiration for their collaborations.

My plea to Wendy and Lisa....one more time? For old time sake.

I don't see it happening. Maybe Wendy on a limited basis since she did play with Prince on The Tavis Smiley Show. But I don't think he is interested in reviving The Revolution.

and that breaks my heart. I didn't get to see she and Prince performing together but I would have given almost anything to catch that. I do tend to believe the day they left, they took a large portion of his "sound" which I find replaced in the music they create as Girl Bros. or Wendy & Lisa.

I understand what you are saying. I too was at the OKC show. I too like Wendy and Lisa and have Girl Bros, and I didn't get to see the Tavis Smiley show but I saw some pictures of then playing together and it was moving just seeing the pictures. I don't know if you read all this but Prince invited her and she said that he was just the lovely guy like she once knew him. She seemed really touched by the experience and it seems they hit it off again. I just don't know if she if up to his current standards or that he wants to go down that road again.

this is simply NOT going to happen . it would be like Sting getting back with the Police. Like Prince, Sting has evolved as a musician in every way since leaving his old bandmates 20 or so years ago. to reunite now would be a major step backwards. those guys could never keep up with Prince anymore. maybe Wendy and Lisa, but the rest? NO WAY. Besides, some of them have really let themselves go as far as the way they are looking these days and you know P ain't never going to go for that onsatge : - )

You can't go back to the past. Just let it go, and listen to some mid 80s records/concerts if you want them back 2gether again.

You think he would at least let them open up a gig or two.

Where is the love.

If they don't reunite in 2004, PR's anniversary year then it aint happenin' ever. I was once like you but I exhaled after P's no show at Family Jamm. I mean damn, the stage was set. All the brother had to do was walk up to the mic.

Here are Prince's thoughts on the topic:

association

The irreversibility of the way art evolves and inspiration flows, which applies 2 both artists themselves and art lovers everywhere, is equally valid 4 artistic collaborations. We love all the groups that Prince has had over the years, but what would b the point of trying 2 go back in time and retrieve the irretrievable?

Collaboration is all about bringing out the best in the people that u work with. Once this has been achieved, it is time 4 both parties 2 move on and continue exploration. Here again, the creative instinct dictates the search 4 new challenges, new horizons.

The bottom line is that nostalgia cuts both ways - whereas the very nature of art is a forward-looking process that challenges both art creators and art lovers 2 always find inspiration in new associations, new interpretations, and new experimentations.

(taken from the unnamed 2003 tour book. It sounds to me like remarks pointed at the Family Jamm, which fits in with working with Wendy and Lisa again. Then again, Reflection confuses the matter somewhat)
Life it ain't real funky unless you got that orgPop.

It's NOT just about the past, for some of us it's about the thrill of what they could do NOW. Some fool always has to talk that bullshit..."let it go it's in the past", it's just not that simple. The Tavis show only flamed for many of us how cool it would be NOT TO RELIVE the past, to explore the present and future.

I've always been a big Wendy and Lisa fan as well and I still try to follow what they do now. I've always loved the sound they added to Prince both vocally and musically and truth be told....W&L were probably the two most influential in getting Prince exposed to different types of music. I think it's more on HIM than W&L personally. I mean...i like Prince and all...always have but I think he's gotta come down off of HIS feelings before a reunion/reuniting takes place. Hell....even if they were to collaborate on some things...I don't need to seem on the same stage.
I will do today what you won't, so tomorrow I can do what you can't.
