I'm lovin Musicology

OK I am still charged up from the concert on Tuesday and my front row seats that I keep braggin about, but I did not even listen to Musicology until this morning. I expected more quirky Prince music and even though I like the quirky stuff, it is different from the earlier stuff, no doubt. But I can't see how Musicology would get any complaints from anyone. It is so much better than I expected. The earlier funk AND the new jazz sound is all in there together! Critics come on let me have it. I think it is an A+ CD. I will be playing it a lot!

Look at my sig.

I think it's another great Prince album, no doubt about it. 4/5

There isn't a single song I don't at least like on it (even LOTP is solid to me), and there's plenty of classics on here to me (Illusion, A Million Days, Call My Name).

Some of his later albums like Rave & TRC came so close to being great, but something just seemed to drag them down.

With Rave, it was those few uninspired sounding plastic songs. With TRC, it was the first half of overly jazzy, instrumental songs.

With Musicology, it all comes together great.

Well said. I really love TRC but there is not much joy in there. I understand it is a serious work and I respect that but the way I am feeling after seeing Prince this week, and the way he seems to be right now, Musicology reflects my mood and is just great listening. It all comes together for me anyway. Rave did have plastic songs and the mood of TRC was so down. Musicology is perfect for the way I feel right now and , good writing, good lyrics, the whole package. What's not to like?
I don't see why it would not be good for anyone, enthusiast or casual listener.

Be careful there. You're dangerously close to becoming a caricature of yourself. We need you around here to keep the Fams from turning this place into the NPGMC.

i agree the album is great!! love it!

EWM has definately become a caricature of himself... you just know not to open his posts and to skim over his remarks when you see his little penticle logo... obviously someone whos dying for attention to come to a site of an artist he is bored with over and over daily just to make sure no positive remark is left un-attacked... i imagine he's about 16, loves ninja's, has'nt kissed a girl yet and plays dungeons and dragons... if he's older than that he's obviously not doin to much with his life... so his opinions are worthless.
