I think the guy is a moron for suing but I really didn't appreciate being filmed while leaving the concert screening on the 29th. Maybe I should have gone up to the cameraman and took his camera.

In today's society it is all about money, money and sex. If your not part of this crowd than you are an outkast.! Prince's bodyguards were just simply doing their job the young man was wrong for snapping some shots when he just purchase a poster online!

Technically, you could be sued for snatching something out of someones hand without their consent. However, usually the damages from something like that would be so inconsequential
that it would not be worth it.

As far as Prince being able to countersue, Prince is a public figure in a public place where he has no reasonable expectation of privacy. Plus, there is no physical contact made by taking someones picture. Therefore, he really doesn't have much of a countersuit.

That said, this will all likely settle. They'll compensate the kid for the price of the camera and maybe a little extra to go away..

This kid's lawyer probabbly talked him into adding on the emotional distress crap, but the camera should NOT have been taken from him. Digital cameras easily cost between $500 - $1000. This incident did not occur in a place like an Arena or Concert Hall, it happened in public in plain view.

If anyone stole my camera, I would sue too. Celebrity or no celebrity. The world doesn't stop drop and roll for Prince. Just because he doesn't like his picture being taken in public doesn't mean thats the law.

He had every right to take that picture, he's not the one who broke any laws, the bodyguard did.

This cracks me up how some people will defend lawsuit happy Prince for all his goofball lawsuits, but criticize someone who has a legitimate complaint against Prince.

And they noticed, walked up to you, assulted you, and took your $800 digital camera, you would just let them walk off with it and never say anything about it again? Get real folks.
