The only thing I care about is that, to me anyway, Prince sounds fucking awesome again.

Looking back, I'm diggin' where Skip is taking us right now. He's a grown ass man who's mastered the game. Now it sounds like he's back to loving it again. Not saying he ever got 'stale', but it never ceases to amaze me that this cat can reinvent himself so many times and still have one core thing in common - that nastyass funk that make all ya face cringe up like you smellin something stank.

Oh and by the way, I'm sho' havin a lil young ass sexy wife ain't hurtin either. He might be all JW now and knockin on people's doors on Saturday mornings now, but deep down inside...I know the negro is still a freak. Ain't no changin that shit.

Totally agree big man.

He just sounds like a musical legend who's completely comfortable with his legacy and completely at peace as a result of his happy domestic situation.

Hmm, do you think it's really a coincidence that albums like NPS and Rave were weaker efforts at a time when his marriage with Mayte was dying after the tragedy of his baby?

I think Prince reacts strongly to his environment, so the music always reflects it.

Musicology sounds like it came from a wise, romantic, fun, inspired, and happy man.

The world is a comedy for those who think and a tragedy for those who feel.

Absolutely. Whatever happens in the dude's real life winds up in the music. I'm sure some of you can come up with better examples, but take 'Emancipation' with all of the love songs to Mayte' and the songs about the baby. Homeboy was on cloud nine and you could hear it. Then after dealing with that pain, he went and wrote a track like "Comeback" - straight from the heart and it showed.

My thought is that is things keep going well like they seem to be going for our little guy, the music is gonna keep getting more courageous. He's embarked on a successful tour, has an album that's been getting praise in the press....now watch he goes and makes a song full of that energy he had back when he was still hungry.
