Its called "Magnificent", or are you saying that to describe it??? Do not hurry yourself in your spirit to become offended, for the taking of offense is what rests in the bosom of the stupid ones. (Ecclesiastes 7:9)

I've just checked out the site...it does actually seem to be called 'magnificent'.

When you got the download page it says "Reflection single"... "Goodness will guide us when love is inside of us... The Force will be with you, always"

The sample npgmc lets you hear is such bad quality it's impossible to tell whether it's any good.

It's nice...it would sound fine as an extra track at the end of Musicology. It kinda reminds me of what it would sound like if Prince did a song for a Bond movie, but maybe that's just me...

First reaction:I just downloaded it. It is very interesting. The way the chorus are brought and all... Unexpected is how I would qualify this song and at the same time very prince like. Could have been a Rave outtake.
I like it for sure except for the lill rap thingy he does for z couple of seconds. "Goodness will guide us when love is inside of us... The Force will be with you, always"

Woohoo. Now that's what I was hoping for.
With this new medium, he can just throw out occasional songs, singles, EP's or albums whenever he feels like it. In the old NPGMC set-up, a song like this would probably not have surfaced. Not cause it's not good enough [it sound quite nice, even with the shitty soundquality] but 'cause it presumably took more time to get things out in that format. Now, whenever he feels like offering music, he just puts it out there and whomever wants it, pays for it and downloads it. I predict great things for the future. If we'd had this kind of set-up in year 1 and 2, than an albums like "Madrid2Chicago" might have been released already. He had them ready to go, but plans changed and they shifted with the stuff they wanted to offer for $ 100,- Presumably halfway through the year, Prince [as always] changed his mind and wanted to give us the ONA box-set instead of some of the other stuff. With this new download store, he doesn't have to make up for any promises but can release whatever he sees fit, in whatever configuration or tempo he deems ok. And that's the beauty of it. Not a week after an entire new album, here's already a new song. "Magnificent" indeed. I love the way things are gearing up right now. Let's hope he'll get release-crazy and offer us new stuff at regular intervals all of the time now. and true love lives on lollipops and crisps

Kinda R&B style. May Be a nice addition to the Musicology album. May be a potential single on radio. P sings with his normal voice, no solo. Nice song

Very cool - I just listened to The Dance for the second time this morning, I've been listening to Musicology a lot over the last week - and already, something new. I wonder if Mondays will give us a treat each week...
I can't download it until I get home - anyone want to give the track length etc.? I'm hoping that projects like Madrid 2 Chicago will get a release in the download club - I think that's very cool. And, even if we think 77c a track is more than they could cost, it's not a big deal at all to drop 77c for a new song on an individual basis - that's less than the cost of the Diet Coke I just bought (and it lasts longer).

What a great surprise to get new music already!
Not the best song, but I don't care right now. I'm just so happy the store works and my Prince is back se på regnet...

I don't know what's happening to me. I don't particularly care for the bit that i've heard, though the quality sucked. Yet i want to download the track. The man is sucking me in some how. It's working, for fuck's sake. If it's working on me, it's working.

Cool...the song is nothing special, but I still bought it. I don't know if Prince makes any money from it though. He probably has to pay the credit card company something like 50 cents plus 2%, so he probably only gets a few pennies in "profit"
But I love how just releases a song like this, so I bought it out of principle and to show support, if nothing else.

You talking to me rainbow? If you were, I was referring to the quality (or lack of) of the file. 160Kbps is relatively rubbish sound quality.

Thats the problem with ALL of these music download services, iTunes/Rhapsody, the quality is shit. If im gonna pay for this music, I want access to at LEAST cd quality, otherwise Id rather buy the full CD/DVD/SACD.

It is not rubbish at all. And if it is 161 kbps it is for a reason. "Goodness will guide us when love is inside of us... The Force will be with you, always"

Where is it? In the musicology download section I only have what was there before and a duplicate of Xpectation! No Magnificent!

Marrk - 160kbps with Joint Stereo encoding is usually as good as a 192kbps file with Stereo encoding. Additionally, it also depends on the encoder. Although all mp3 encoders work on the same principle, they actually do differing calculations. A 32-128kbps VBR J.S. file encoded with the Lame 3.90 codec sounds much better than a 192kbps CBR Stereo file encoded using Xing.

While I agree with you that I'd rather have the real CD, I will disagree about the quality of iTunes tracks. They sound great. Sometimes, though, they just sound like they have too much bass - then I just adjust it on my player. The clarity and tone (?) is amazing, and I have done side-by-side comparisons with CDs. No difference, for the casual listener. Some of the higher-end audiophiles might be able to tell, but probably only 10% of listeners are that discerning.

i-Tunes allows you to rip at 320Kb in AAC (different from inferior Mp3) and it's identical to CD quality.

They're sold at 128 Kbps AAC files. As for ripping the files, yes you can rip them at CD quality. But then, it's a matter of harddrive space, especially if you have an iPod. I've re-encoded my entire music library at 128Kbps AAC files, and they sound amazing. If you have a REALLY old CD, one that doesn't sound good anyway, of course it's not going to get better . . .

Well yeah, i am an audiophile (never liked that word, too close to another very bad word).
I apologise that I demand pristine quality If I mp3 at 192kbps, there really isnt much difference, you may notice it on classical records with heavy dynamics etc but for compressed rock/hip hop etc, u cant really tell. In the car or whatever I use mp3, at home on my monitors i like bestest quality - each to their own!

Statistically no-one can tell the difference between 160 MP3 and CD quality.
Especially on crappy PC speakers. You say you can - you're either lying, or have AMAZING ears. 99% of the world can't. BTW Ogg gives better quality at lower bit rates.
