Prince Zeitgeist 2004

Prince won the war that brewed within his fans…the outside periphery ( critics, magazines) don’t mean shit because they are media and we all know the lack of substance that sometimes entails. However...with his performances, re-fucking-gardless of what material it is, has been seen as a return to form. Period. His grammy shit, his hall of fame shit, his recent club dates with some new ones thrown in have changed the Prince Zeitgeist. And his new stuff is a return to solid songwriting without the heels (blather, glitz, humping speakers, etc). And yes saying “won the war” is silly but it is a useful term to use for the sake of parsimony. And how does one know he “won”? Because of the respect and hushed uninhibited non subjective retarded negativity that has been tones done to just a hum/murmur. This new Prince Zeitgeist is rewarding for all in the long run. Even the ding dongs who don’t have the balls or werwithall to admit they enjoy something instead choosing to save face and act indignant and blatantly blasé’ blasé’…you know who you are. Love this era so far.
Oh my, oh my.

The expression 'won the war' was never used in my reading of recent threads for the sake of 'parsimony', so trying to pretend that it's useful shorthand sounds weak to me - unless 'the war' was shorthand for 'a simplistic and puerile argument used by people who, for whatever reason, desperately needed to validate their particular enthusiasm for Prince's music.' And suggesting that some people engaged in this argument are acting blatantly blasé, out of indignance, or in denial, is a covert way of perpetuating the argument, despite claiming that the 'war' is won.

But it's an argument you clearly wish to perpetuate because you've simply lifted your own post from the original hater thread which was being done to death anyway and reposted it here for no good reason.

For every 'For You' fanatic who believes that Prince's muse departed when he left his bikini briefs at the dry cleaners, there's a 'Rave' raver who can't understand why each post-1999 song and concert is seemingly slammed more than the last one.

But in between there's all shades of the spectrum, some of whom think it's sometimes fun to debate, but futile to try to convert or damn people, over whether they like or dislike one melody, lyric, instrumental arrangement, mix, production, song, album, tracklisting, concert performance, band, tour, television appearance, radio interview, magazine article, video, film, costume, hairstyle, alter ego, album cover, font style, era or even 'zeitgeist' over another.

This is great. lol

U do understand how ridiculous this is right?

There's something slightly warped about it. However, I'm open minded to all forms of pap. It takes all sorts, and ineptitude is a trait in people and deserves as much space as intelligence, wit or sanity.
