Condition of the Heart is right up there. The Beautiful Ones, too.
In more recent years, In this Bed I Scream has done a lot for me in this area. It doesn't have the slow tempo, but there's a real yearning here that I like. Something very bittersweet about I Wish You Heaven, if you're to the point at which that sentiment appeals. If you're just looking to feel sorry for yourself, easily I love U..., it just speaks pain from the very first few seconds. If you're just flat out frustrated but not yet bitter, I'd go with Beautiful Ones . Can't beat that classic desperate rant at the end.
Then, if you grow really, really angry, best to play I Hate U. Good for quietly venting. Once you're at a more subdued stage of sadness, gotta go with Condition of the Heart. It's not too self pitying, but it's got a great somber feel to it. For some gentle comfort, I'd go with Sweet Baby. Delicate and consoling. Then, when you're ready and determined to reach out for somethin' new, you absolutely must blast Purple Rain. Must. It's inspired and saved my ass more times than I can count. The world is a comedy for those who think and a tragedy for those who feel.

A Million Days for me recently because it brought to mind someone who doesn't say he is sorry and I wish he knew how....or chose too once in awhile. Sometimes it is hearing the love Prince sings about rather than sadness that will do it when I have relationship issues--- like in Call My Name. | |
