The only song I didn't even burn to disc was the astonishingly boring A Million Days This is probably Ps best record since Diamonds and Pearls certainly his strongest from beginning to end There are bumps... I mentioned A Millions Days which is just awful. Pimp & Circumstance is another throw away George Clinton type joint that many here for some reason love. Too me it just shows how many people of this board like Prince regardless of whathis music sounds like. That song sucks and I skip it everytime. the reworked Judas Smile or Sexme/sexmenot would have been stronger additions. It is at Call My Name that the record picks up again and rolls through The Couch. Then we take a dip with a good efforts but not quite pulling it off songs of Dear Mr Man, and the boaderline bad Reflection. P could take a lesson or two from Tracy on the later type of record But again I do agree with the consistency of the record...its his best since Diamons in my opinion. The track does sound a little throw-away-ish, but the one part I like is where he's poking a little fun at the non-fans and uninformed public and says, "He don't play his hits anymore, plus I thought he was gay!"

The dip is:
Cinammon Girl, What Do U Want Me 2 Do, The Marrying Kind. Now I actually like 'What Do U Want Me 2 Do', but its sandwiched inbetween two dogs! The more I listen to Cinammon Girl, the more I think of Roy Orbison's cover of Cyndi Lauper's 'I Drove All Night'.

It has that Symbol 3 Chains Of Gold vibe to it and classic Prince voiced layering. It seems like a throw away in the past but its jammin in this set up imo. And his vocal near the end is aching which reminds me of another of his songs on Emancipation with similar good vocals.

Hey thats a start with as bad as Rave, NPS, and even the bloated Emancipation were Damn Alex...this to me is one of his warmest and consistent. Great melodies abound on this disc. Pimp and C is hilarious because of the pening and chorus delivery and the classic Prince-rap talk style but this time with organic instrumentation. Daerr Mr Man is simply awesome. A cool as outro to the final song and mellow groove that is powerful as it is simple and quiet. And this isn't just duie to liking anything Princ eputs out either. Instead of me thinking some will like whatever Prince puts out,I think some are underwhelmed or disappointed whenever Prince doesn't change the music world with a release. Musicology is a solid set of solid songs that would work well to tour with imo. Because it isn't a Love Below out there style is just as cool in my book.

Yes, a very soilid outing.Has me hooked, actually.I don't know how y'all don't like Life 'o' the Party!Obviously, you haven't turned it up in the car and cruised. You haven't seen the people at the stop light look at you then start bobbing their heads.
My cruising music this year has been Musicology, all the Jay-Z mixes,Chocolate Invasion,Van Hunt,N.E.R.D...I will soon add the new Sweetback and the new Omar. Wouldn't have been interesting if Chocolate Invasion was included with Musicology as a second disc? I think there's some solid stuff on there and I really appreciate the better quality sound of my files. "I'm a pig..so,magic elixir I swill"

. I admit I have not given it a chance. Although it immediately reminds me of Slave from Emanciaption and Rosie's voice. It is kind of monotonous to me. Ill give it a chance though.

LOTP is problematic because I feel Prince doesn't need to write an overt party song. His music is a party -- he doesn't need to say the word that much. Housequake and Days of Wild are the true way of wirting this kind of song for him.
And all praise the Doctor!

He does say the word A LOT in that one, don't he? I was just thinking that driving home today. I dunno, I think sometimes he tries too hard & he really don't have to. I still cringe watching the Rave DVD when he's @ the piano & says, "What a fun party!"

I don't dislike hearing him say the word (like in Musicology, for instance), but to say it in a bona fides "party" song is... oh I just feel he's so past that as the author of 1999, just to give one example.
