I just thought, why not take a picture out of the equation altogether?

That is exactly what it should look like! I just love the style of the video. When the boy is looking at the ad and the old records all over that store. I don't understand the not even mediocre cover. confused

Your picture caused a new desktop style on my PC! Thank you!

Don't worry if you don't get it, it's just another one of those insular hipper-than-thou designer statements, hijacking the client's product for the sake of making the designer feel validated. wink

Its only a mock-up. I'm not a professional anything - I work in the offices of a gas company!

I personally think that an old record sleeve design conjures up the concept of "old school" better than depicting Prince in an old school.

Anyway - Where's your effort? razz

That's it...yer on. I'll mock one up for ya. Have to wait til I get home from the office though. Check back later tonight.

Have you tried looking at it through the Wonder Mask?

I think looking at it through The Wondermask was the problem. Everything is brilliant through the eyes of The Wondermask.

I'm not sure, but this looks like the same crud that guy "Sam" has been doing for him since he left Warners. I recognize the *ahem* style. It should have just been the (dramatic) photo and nothing else. There's a lot of tension in that image, and the look on his face is "classic Prince" enough to speak to his history.

For God's sake, if you have no talent or inspiration for a piece, at least hide behind the banner of "less is more".

Here it is...my try at a better cover:

I can't see it! Could you upload it someplace else? I'm assuming that only North Americans can see this. A lot of U.S. sites will allow American surfers to view hot-linked images, but not the rest of the world.

Would you know how to rename the image as a text file within Windows' File Manager?

p.s. If that is you within your avatar, you look like the love-child of Chris Martin and Guy Ritchie. That's not a diss, its a compliment.

IMO all of these are good ideas. I, too am a little disappointed in the artwork, But I don't think he's had a good cover since Gold Experience...save TRC was at least OK and Rave remix had some really good interior shots. But all of them have been boring and with little or no meaning. Hasn't mattered to me in the least, though I'd love to see something that captivated me like Bjork's Homogenic, come out of the boy. ANd this is not to say he hasn't put out good covers...just not that many and not lately.

Honestly, I've seen much better artwork on the Boots.

I think Musicology will go down as the worst Prince album/cd cover....ever. It looks worse than For You or Prince. I hope the inside packaging is much better.
