I hope that they put the outtakes for this movie and PR..... especially some clips from the much rumored fist fight between morris day and Prince on the set. Under The Cherry Moon now dats my movie! The whole movie is classy, and very sophisticated (black and white theme). Plus it's in France...lol I love the whole movie and I like it a lot better than GB, it's about tied with Purple Rain in my book, almost above it. It shows Prince's sense of humor, but it's also not a very dramatic movies (love comedies). The ending was kind of a surprise though, and for some reason it wasn't sad to me.

The Wrecka Stow thang, as well as When Christopher got drunk and was outside of Ms. Wellington's house, the party, bathtub. The whole movie is awesome! A real classic.

"You ever been to Miami Baby?"
"I HAVE!"

"Tricky's my name, love is my game. If you ain't got no money...i'll love ya just the same."

That movie was just great. Prince likes to teach us a little something. He was really into the whole French Riviera thing at that time and he wanted to take us there.

The best scenes were between Prince and Jerome...they had an awesome chemistry together.

"I never dance before midnight....but if u insist..."

DAMN! evil u all 1nce again described da movie 2 be a MUST SEE. I haf2 cop this badly. I haven't seen it but I've heard good things & seen a few pix from it. I gotta share in this experience. I need da VHS version but I'd like da 1 that'll have the extras. & Prince & Morris fist fightin'??(on PR's behalf) eek lol That's a definite see! If UTCM does come out on DVD wit extras I'll definitely cop that,& just watch it on my computa. But 4 now I want the VHS version. Newayz,I'ma make it my goal 2 see this b4 end of this comin' summer.

My favorite parts are when Mary has called the guards on Christopher (Prince) and Tricky (Jerome from The Time) and christopher tells her that maybe she could breathe easier if she loosened up her chasity belt....

another funny scene is when christopher finds out that mary was willing to give up the drawers to him, he drags tricky to her house in the middle of the night with a ladder to get to her room from the window but little does christopher know that he has actually entered the bedroom of mary's mother. While tricky has found out that mary's father has come he tries to go get christopher from out of the bedroom and nearly falls off the ladder...meanwhile christopher is talking dirty to mary's mom who thinks its her husband on top of her...and while tricky finally gets christopher's attention by throwing rocks and then christopher tells mary's mom "wait baby I ain't into all of that!" (after he realizes it ain't mary he's humping) but.....

My favorite scene of all is when they are singing Boys and Girls and prince is doing his thing on top of the piano. -missfee

Them parts u described seem funny,I can imagine him doin' all that as well 4 Tricky 2. Can't w8 2 see 4 myself!

Prince ran into bad luck and bad decisions with UTCM .
He pissed off a lot of people when he fired the original director and that is one thing you cannot do in Hollywood. Piss off the right people and your ass is doomed.

Then Prince had a white female love interest which is still a taboo subject and in 1986 it was not going to be allowed in parts of the USA.In fact in muleTown the movie was not allowed to come here.

O.K. picture and is better than many pictures that won acclaim after it's release.

Examples: The Crying Game, Cool World , & Dick Tracy
Hollywood wanted prince 2know that he did'nt run tinsle town. UTCM was a very funny movie. 2 me it was a comedy, with good music period. People were expecting PR the sequel. I think WB sabbotaged GB because he was trying 2 do 2 much in their eyes. Remember the original version did'nt have prince in the movie. Prince wanted GB 2 be a vehicle 2 bring back the Magnifacint 7 the return of the TIME'S original line up but WB told prince 2 rewrite it with himself in the starring role. So prince rushed the rewrite to meet the deadline. WB wanted a theme linking PR 2 GB bcuz they thought that would be the selling point. Bad move 4 joe public, bcuz prince wanted it 2 be a musical and the public is expecting PR the sequel.

I think you can only like this film if you're a Prince fan - there's no other reason to watch it really.

It failed because most people were expecting a follow-up to Purple Rain, both visually and musically, and it was just so different - much kudos to Prince for having the audacity to go his own way.

The main thing that made Purple Rain so great was the fantastic on-stage performances - what 'Cherry Moon' lacks is these performances of the songs, but the character and storyline don't provide an opportunity apart from the Girls and Boys performance, finally Prince on stage doing what he does best. He has a great sense of humour and the visual, but he isn't an actor and if you take this film seriously, as I'm sure film critics did at the time, you will be let down.

I think popstars should play popstars if it's just an excuse to promote an album. Like Eminem did. If you wanna be an actor proper, don't go anywhere near the soundtrack!
Prince did play prince in UTCM. Even though i like the black&white vibe i think joe public could'nt get with it.
