Who here REALLY loves funk? (And I'm especially talking about white people...) -----
I ask this question because I've never come across a fellow white dude that had the same amount of funk in his/her blood that I have. I mean, a lot of people here are already dissing Musicology and it's not even on the radio yet! Probably the same people who only like songs like Little Red Corvette, Condition Of The Heart, Joy In Repetition or 3 Chains Of Gold. I really don't care for those songs. I respect them, but they do nothing for me. I LOVE THA FUNK! And I'm not talking about songs like The Ride or Xenophobia. Those songs are not funky to me. Too boring. I'm talking about the funk that sounds a little gay (eventhough I'm not!), like We March, It, Vicky Waiting or Emancipation. I love funky live jams like 1+1+1=3 or You Know You Got Soul (live @ Nighttown, Utrecht 2002). Can anybody relate to this? Or am I the only one..

I thought We March was a pop song?
Anyways, yes, I love funky tunes like Head, Irresistible Bitch/Possessed (Live), Bob George, Get Off/The Lubricated Lady and such. I used to dance all around my room to those grooves whenever I thought no one was lookin'. And I really dug Jesse Johnson's brand of funk. But as I've grown older, I've sorta grown more into rock music in general, so now I have an even larger affinity for Prince's rock music than his funk, and I wish he would do more rock music. I got his MC Flash project last November and it stayed on my player longer than any of Prince's own stuff this side of him leaving WB. FREE THE 29 MAY 1993 COME CONFIGURATION!

since when's Vicki Waiting and We March funk?
Check Head, Dirty Mind, DMSR, We Can Funk (obviously), Let's Work and Erotic City. That's Funk. While you're at it, just cause it's not funk, don't be dissing JIR either!! I'm white, and I Funk.

I REALLY love funk and I REALLY love rock. But for me the magic formula is funkers who rock -- not rockers who (try to) funk!

Although I might disagree with some of your examples, I'm white and I grew up on funk, loving Rick James, Sly Stone, James Brown, Ohio Players, Curtis Mayfield, P-Funk, Earth Wind & Fire, Isaak Hayes, the Isley Brothers, Willie Hutch, J.J. Johnson, Roy Ayers, really too many favorites to mention. Funk is one of the many music influences I was raised with. So it always makes me scratch my head in confusion when people try to act like it's music only black folks can appreciate. You better wake up, Stella. This is my town!
