I Just Found The Whole Musicology Album On An Illegal Download Site! I'm downloading it right now. I'll still buy the CD when it hits the stores, but until the NPGMC takes PayPal, I've got no other way of getting this. I haven't got a credit card and I don't want one!

But when I buy the CD I want a brand spanking new copy that has never been touched by anyone else ever before. I bought the soundtrack CD to 'Bright Lights, Big City' (because of the extended version of "Good Love" on it), from a seller on EBay. It was advertised as 'mint condition'. When I received it, the booklet had been marked with a rubber stamp stating: THIS C.D. IS THE PROPERTY OF THOMAS DELRON. What kind of fool stamps their name on their record collection???

What's with the finger wagging? I would have done the same under simlilar circumstances. So long as an original CD gets a purchase, then what harm is done? RIP

I would be interested to know what you think when you play it back. I have considered buying the Musicology CD off Ebay, but would rather wait till April 20th, killing me that I cannot hear some of the new tracks. I could not get downloaded tracks off whatever to work, and I could buy off NPGmusicclub, but sound quality on computer is second rate, and not sure how much memory this will consume (already have probs with my computer with memory).

The sound quality is excellent. The mp3 files have been encoded using Joint-Stereo and VBR.

I hate people who justify downloading music illegaly, just say ur gonna do it, or dont say anything at all, u may or may not buy it in the store. who cares?
If u wanted to, paypal has a debit card available, u could purchase it legally from prince directly if u really wanted to. I purchased all the trax form princes online music store (including slaughterhouse, chocalate etc.), I also received a copy at the regal showing...and I will probably buy the sony version as well. Just remember, if the album is profitable for prince is the only sure way of seeing another one from him in the future. im not judging, but I wonder if we will look back someday when we live in a police state or no new music is available or music is pay per listen or whatever cuz we couldn't police ourselves. the fact that we can purchase it directly from the artist is the best reason to buy it legally. if other musicians can see that prince is better off dealing directly with his fanbase, others will follow suit. I wanna see a day when the record companies work for the musician, and not the other way around. lets make it happen. don't rip off the musicans u love.

What are you talking about? The NPGMC only accepts either Visa or Mastercard. I will be buying the CD when its in the stores - why would you doubt that? I did email the NPGMC asking if they intended to take PayPal payments in the future. They replied that a number of people had enquired, but they had "no plans" to add differing payment methods. Imagine if a record store opened where you live but they only accepted credit card payments. In fact - imagine any store only accepting credit card payments - it would go bust within a month of opening. Its ludicrous. Prince is ignoring a huge percentage of his fans by limiting his site's payment methods. I do have a debit card from a UK bank, but I will never use a credit card ever again. How can you say you're not judging? The whole tone of your post is judgemental. Any sentence starting with "I hate people who" is judgemental.

I never touch my credit card because there's just no need for credit when ur number 1 at the bank.

Why don't u want a credit card? I find it hard to keep track of my money. I don't even own a cheque book. I'm on a very low wage and I need to know where every single penny in my bank account goes. If any UK bank offered a pre-paid Visa or Mastercard that you could top up as and when you required, I would have one. No UK bank supplies this service.

Lloyds TSB bank card, has the Visa (electron) symbol on it. You can use that @ NPGMC, i won't have a Credit card either.

As BinaryJustin said there is No UK bank that offers a pre-paid visa or mastercard. I do not understand why the club does not let us pay by other methods, example: introduce Maestro, Cirrus, (Maestro and Cirrus is accepted in most countries around the world) or PayPall, by not introducing other ways of paying they are cutting out a large chunk of there market.

I look at it this way, most of the companys like Sony etc are just money making muthas, the artists don't get most of the profits or anywhere near, maybes if they started charging more reasonable prices then this type of shit wouldnt happen ,a CD is only worth a few pence and they had been charging to much at least with vinyl you got a nice big fuck off hunk of plastic. I've noticed that CD prices have dropped since downloading started this can only be a good thing.

Does it debit your bank account straight away, like a regular debit card? fauxnewbie said: I don't get this. U won't use credit card, but u have a debit card. Do u have anything against using your debit card?
I don't mind using the debit card because the payment is deducted from my bank account almost instantaneously. I wouldn't know where I was with a credit card. go2theMax said: I don't doubt it...don't get me wrong...but when U do this U feed these sites that take advantage on somebody else's works 2 make money...now that's unfair!!
But the site with the mp3s on is offering the files for free. I'll still buy the CD when it comes out. Prince won't be losing out on my £9.99 later this month.

Lloyds TSB Current Account debit card. Same as a credit card but without the bills. Or the credit. And it's a different colour.
No problems, of course. Do it quick and hear the geniuious!

Binary Justin I dont know why you were even worried ,you were just trying b4 buying, what you were doing was no worse than getting a buddy to tape you it or taping of the radio although both of these are both stupidly illegal as is showing a room full of people a video.

Yeah - I've never understood that. You're supposedly not allowed to show movies on oil rigs, in prisons or in hospitals. Weird.

Yeah - I've never understood that. You're supposedly not allowed to show movies on oil rigs, in prisons or in hospitals. Weird. Well its just greedy ,they obviously think that if more people watch it at once the less will hire it buy it etc. Its the same with downloading ,if these companys thought it was doing there sales good they would be all for it. I actually think that perhaps it does incourage sales if someone likes what they hear they will buy it, at least your not getting a £15 coffee coaster, its not like the record companys give a shit if the product you bought aint up to standards.

U really believe that they're not earning nuthing 4 makin' this mp3's available?? I actually think that u're not wrong as a fam...ue're gonna buy the cd anyway...but many peolpe won't. They will have the entire album without payin' a cent 4 it... I understand ur point...but still I think it's not right (I'm not say U're a sinner or an out-law ) 2 feed this kinda sites. Don't don't care about art or artists...they make their money through publicity and pop-ups merchandise. peace [This message was edited Sun Apr 4 12:04:34 2004 by go2theMax]

I dont get why the UK doesnt have credit cards... you cant get a Visa debit that goes right out of your checking account? It works just like Visa without incurring debt. I mean not having cc debt is cool and I wish I didnt have any but when you cant even get a card you can use online that makes no freaking sense -- Just another Prince lovin, VW drivin, SuperMommy wannabe
