GRAFITTI BRIDGE (MOVIE):SCENES MISSING,CHOPS AND CHANGES ETC.... I love the film (and album) Graffiti bridge, yet alot of Prince fans rag on it!
Concidering Prince wrote AND directed the film, we should give props to him! Anyway, like the movie Purple rain, it features all of the albums songs in the movie (and mostly in order), I thought why wasn't this done in Graffitti bridge and after hearing that some of the movie was cut out, I can now workout that the bits that had been cut add up to quite alot of the movie! No wonder why the flow of the movie seems disjointed. I also heard that when the test audiences first saw the movie, they did not like it, so Warners cut out the scenes that they thought did not work and so re-edited the film. Amazinly, this apparantly happened again meening more chopping and changing! (Did anyone go to the original pre-release sceenings and remember the deleted scenes? ) There are proberly scenes to these songs:- 1) "Cant stop this feeling I got" (films opener is "NPG", wonder what the opening scene was like) 2) "The latest fashion" (this would've been great, as this is a duet with the time-perhaps prince invaded the stage and had a battle with them?) 3)"Grafitti bridge" (song) (Maybe before Morris gives in to the Kid) Also all these songs are cut (edited) in some way:- 1)"Round and round" (one verse only- I've seen the extra verse-it aint much, but still why did the editors bother to cut it?) 2)"We can funk" (this is considerabally cut-why? Don't know, but would like to see the full version) 3)"Npg" (part II) (seems rushed, the way the credits appear next to TC rapping, plus there seems to be some extra scenes with Morris and Robin?) Plus the fact that maybe whole senes are missing/or are longer! Plus "Theives in the temple" is out of place (in album sequence) but thats no big deal, but suddenly we see Prince singing some of the song via music video style ( he is not always on his bike), I'm not getting over-analyitical but this scene in particualar seems chopped about alot! Also I remember the trailer to movie! They showed the bit when Morris first walks in The Glam Slam and Prince says (as in original movie) "The king has arrived" but what we didn't see was Morris' very funny reply "...Well guess who the Queen is" and the audience started laughing. This was clearly seen on the trailer and thats proberly just a few seconds cut, but why did Warners' editors bother, particually as that line was really funny! Also in trailor u c Morris and Jerome in Limo counting their money, but that scene is also missing! So maybe with the scenes put back in (if I'm right here of course) and maybe to the haters out there, the movie may seem more appealing as a whole! I wish that these possible deleted scenes are put back in in the DVD release this year! That would be so cool! As you can see, all of this would make the movie about 10-20 mins longer. Maybe a directors cut could come out (yeah right!) But maybe now you can see, why the movie had so many problems in terms of narrative flow! Despite this, I stll and always have loved it but as this is one of my ALL TIME FAV MOVIES (honestly), I would kill to see the original intended movie! Now understand why this may may suck to u!

ive seen bits of Cant Stop and The Question of U and they both looked really good esp Cant Stop.....
i hope they do surface on the dvd Fuck the funk - it's time to ditch the worn-out Vegas horns fills, pick up the geee-tar and finally ROCK THE MUTHA-FUCKER!! He hinted at this on Chaos, now it's time to step up and fully DELIVER!!

Prince is my boy and all, but NOTHING could save this movie! Oddly, I liked it, though.

I think I remember him saying it was cut because the film was just too long. When I saw the movie in the theater, "Can't Stop" WAS the opening credits. Has this been changed?? jeff

This movie shouldn't have been released in the first place...one of the worst movies I've seen in my entire life... "Just like the sun, the Rainbow Children rise."
