If Prince's mainstream comeback turns out to be a commercial success...

... imagine all the newbies we will be getting at this site! "I really liked Musicology, and I can dig Rave Un2 The Joy Fantastic 2, but then I bought this record called Around The World In A Day and it completely sux, IMO." That sort of thing.

... and moreover: what about all the people lining up for your Prince outtake collection at WinMX, Kazaa and SoulSeek? It could be hell!

I'm always amazed when people here cite their favourite albums as The Gold Experience or prince

Hey isn't Musicology (the Tour) already a commercial success?

The Gold Experience and prince are two outstanding albums. Really apples and oranges to compare them to PArade or Lovesexy, etc.

I've noticed a lot of people who don't like albums like prince and The Gold Experience often have a negative reaction to Prince's skewed purpleized versions of hip hop infused material. Meaning:They don't like rap.

One of the few songs I actually like on The Gold Experience is P. Control.

Hip-Hop (as a genre) has developed to encompass more than just just rap. I like the unreleased Hip-Hop remix of Pop Life. Couldn't you call the vocal on Irresistible Bitch a "rap"?

What I don't like about most of the 90s output is the kitchen-sink rock-opera histrionics and banal lyrics.

Honestly... what's wrong with the Gold Experience? LOL. I liked it. But then again, I like nearly everything that I have heard so far. There's still a few things that I haven't heard yet...

and *Gasp* I am new here.. hopefully won't be considered one of those annoying posters though.. *crosses fingers*

Anyway, I'm glad that I came across this.. I used to post on the npg site everyonce in a while (I guess it was called the npg site then) way back in the day when it was free. By the same user name too... But then I stopped.. and when I went back, they had started charging, and my parents wouldn't pay for it (sounds sad, doesn't it? LOL- I was a youngen!).

Actually I like Hip Hop/Rap, but I didn't care to much for much of the Gold Experience...except for maybe a few tracks (Shhh, Eye Hate U, Dolphin, BjB). 0(+> was o.k. (The Flow, 7, TC, Arrogance).

Are u kiddin? Gold Experience is actually one of my fave Prince albums! And the symbol album is great, too! I was in college when Gold Experience came out, and I wore that shit out constantly. I Hate U, P Control, Dolphin, 319, Shy, Sssh BJB, Gold, omg I love that album! Every song!

That's what's so good about Prince though is that he's bound 2 have something that U like, no matter how varied your musical tastes cuz he's just that eclectic. He's the reason I like rock music now as much as I do.
