I was listening to the Tom Joyner show a few days ago and he mentioned the fact that Prince has never, himself, been involved with or associated with any major controversy. I then began to think that for all the complaining I do about Prince not getting his just due and how people quickly forget or dismiss him, there's one thing that I am very happy about:

1. Prince has never been arrested/charged with a crime (not to my knowledge).
2. Prince has never been accused or charged with a major sex offense (barring the fake charges, anyway).
3. Even though Prince has always been the brunt of jokes about his demeanor, brazen sexuality, it also seems that people respect the fact that he maintains some sense of normalcy. He typically keeps his private life private; hence, the often false information that is printed about him.
4. Even though he's known for being reclusive, we rarely see Prince gossip in the Inquirer, Daily Mirror and other tabloid papers/magazines.

This is perhaps the most remarkable time to be a Prince fan. People seem to be interested in his music again and it gives each of us an opportunity to encourage them to LISTEN without prejudice!!!

This is true. Athough perhaps more due to Prince's dilegence in covering things up, paying people off and making sure people sign (and lawyers enforce) gag orders for employees and associates than anything else.

I bet if the gags were taken off of people we'd hear some things!

And there was some tabloid coverage of the death of his baby and for a short time some employees/nannies/nurses were talking.

I agree he probably hasn't done anything really aggredious or out of line. When he has a "wardrobe" issue on TV (assless pants) it clearly IS intended and he never pretends otherwise!

But he's no saint, I'm sure. Just thank God he's also no criminal, pedophile, etc.
