The main problem with MUSICOLOGY is that most of its weak tracks are right at the beginning.
I'm talking about: -Illusion, Pimp, Coma & Circumstance (track 2) -A Million Days (3) -Life 'O' The Party (4 - boy is that song crappy) -Cinnamon Girl (6) -The Marrying Kind (8) Conversely, the last four tracks are probably the best of the album. All in all, the good tracks are: -Musicology (1) -Call My Name (5) -What Do U Want Me To Do? (7) -If Eye Was The Man In Ur Life (9) -On The Couch (10) -Dear Mr. Man (11) -Reflection (12) So - in my opinion - there are 7 good songs on the album, of which "If Eye Was The Man In Ur Life" and "Dear Mr. Man" are the best. However, anybody who just gives the album a listen before buying it will be put off after "Cinnamon Girl" at the latest, probably after "Life 'O' The Party". Too bad that the gems are at the end. "How embarrasing to be human!"

See this is where musical tastes differ.
My favorite tracks are: -The Marrying Kind (8) -A Million Days (3) -Illusion, Pimp, Coma & Circumstance (2) -Musicology (1) -Cinnamon Girl (6) -Reflection (12) and I think the worst songs are... -Life 'O' The Party (4) -Call My Name (5) -What Do U Want Me To Do? (7) and these are somewhere in the middle: -If Eye Was The Man In Ur Life (9) -On The Couch (10) -Dear Mr. Man (11)

True. And it wouldn't be fun if they didn't, right? and I think the worst songs are...
-Life 'O' The Party (4) -Call My Name (5) -What Do U Want Me To Do? (7) Life 'O' The Party I can understand - see my post - As for Call My Name, well, possibly that doesn't float your boat... But What Do U Want Me To Do?! BTW, I'm listening to Cinnamon Girl now, and well, it's not that bad... plus the lyrics are VERY interesting. "How embarrasing to be human!"

Well, Call my Name is not exactly *bad* but it just seems so much like a lot of Prince's ballads dating back to Insatiable. Plus the lyrics seems a bit scattered to me. In a reverse, the lyrics to Cinnamon Girl are exactly what saved it for me. before I really started listening to the lyrics I was sort of passing over CG as simply another pop song. As far as "What Do U Want me 2 Do?" goes... I'm aware that a lot of people really like this song, some like it enough to think it should even be the next single, but I just feel clueless about what the attraction is. :-/ I've listened to it over and over and I just don't get it. is it the Linn drums or what? heheh

But also the cool melody. I don't know, I dig it... "what do you want me to do..." "How embarrasing to be human!"

I somewhat agree that the second "half" of the album is better (personal taste again). What's interesting is that it was exactly the same (for me) with TRC - ie the best trax were from She Loves Me 4 Me onwards 'I loved him then, I love him now and will love him eternally. He's with our son now.' Mayte 21st April 2016 = the saddest quote I have ever read! RIP Prince and thanks for everything.

Now that I think of it, I agree. It's not clear-cut, but on the whole that's how it is, both with TRC and Musicology. "How embarrasing to be human!"

I am glad to see you, as a expert Grammy winning, R&R hall of fame inductee think that his songs are crappy?!?....now I can see you saying that you don’t appreciate them, or they weren't your favorite.....but when prince "fans" criticize his songs, well that's like Dr. Phil tellin folks how to lose weight. Just don’t make no sense.....

Life 'O' The Party is the worst song. The rest is very good. But my track 2 and 6 are my faves
