There's now a legal way to get at least one song into a Mac or an iPod. Why not do this with all of the club content? Currently not even N.E.W.S. or the Rainbow Children is on the iTunes store.

This is encouraging. Perhaps if it sells well enough, Prince will consider putting the rest of the album on iTMS.

it's the #66 pop song on the store now - I'm sure we can do better than that.

oh, and when I bought the song from iTunes, I got the cover art too.

It's now #4 on the pop chart and #29 overall. Not bad - hopefully the success of the single on iTMS will help the rest of the album be released, too.

My bet is that the whole album will be available on iTunes on or after the 20th. Handed to iTunes from Sony as apposed to NPGMC that is.

There is a drop down on the left that says "choose genre" -- just click and choose Pop.

Now that it's gotten as high as it is on the overall chart, you can just look at the Genre column in the main chart to get an idea of how close it is to moving up another spot on the pop chart. It's #21 on the overall chart, the #3 pop song is #19, so it won't take many more people buying it to get it to #3 on the pop chart. You can also see that if iTunes categorized it as R&B, which is where it's getting all of the airplay, it'd be #3 already.

I really don't get the William Hung phenomena, though. He's #2 on the pop sales chart, people somehow like him because he is awful. I swear, had they included him in the wild card round of American Idol as a joke, he would have gotten voted into the final 12.

also, it looks like the sales charts are updated every half hour to hour. But if you just load the page again in iTunes, it just loads from the cache. To force a reload, just click on the Today's Top Songs button at the top - that does a force reload like you would do in a web browser.

Some people can't seem to play the new album on their macs. I had no problems doing just that. Downloaded them from the music store (NPG, not iTunes ) Opened them in Windows Media Player. When you hit the play button for the 1st time it automatically opens up a web page (make sure your default browser is IE, in safari this doesn't work). You then get the message that a license is installed and you have to hit the play button below. There's no such play button but just close the IE window and open the .wma file again.

That's for playin. Burning: that's another issue. What I did for now: hooked up my MiniDisc player to the mac. Recorded the songs, then imported the songs again with the program Amadeus from my MD player to the computer. Save as an .aif file and import in iTunes. A hassle, but controversy live in Hawaii alone is worth the efoort.
