Darling Nikki played live in Bakersfield??? Ripped from NPGmusicclub forum

I know this should go in the concert forum, but I posted it here to see if I can get anyone to confirm this post I copied from a forum at the npgmusicclub website

Even when you expect the unexpected, sometimes you just ain't ready for it. I am not even sure how to talk about it - it being the 10 minute acoustic version of "darlin' nikki" p closed with last night. He had his people round up 20 sisters from the audience while he played extended opening chords with just John Blackwell backing him up, and people thought they had lost their natural minds when they recognized the cut, what with the jevovah witness thing and all we thought we'd never hear this one live, but he had that look on his grill like "y'know I had to do it" so he got the girls on stage, everybody was freakin' and they just rocked the tune - p and 20 girls doing the lyrics and john laying down the rhythm, tearing up the skins...it seemed like it would never stop...lord have mercy...20,000+ people, 40,000+ hands in the air, screaming/singing 15 or 20 choruses of "thank u for a funky time!!" at the stage in unison until the houselights came on. Priceless. Thank u. Don't call I will be busy finding me someplace to go lay down and die today. Peace.

I CAN confirm this...My girlfriend was one of those onstage! We are from LA and went to the show up there and well worth the drive...we were sitting 4 feet away from Mani! YEA BABY! I used to work at Glam Slam LA so this was the first arena show I've seen since the early 90's! BRAVO P!

Okay, so someone has to say it...did he sing, "I met her in a hotel lobby thumbin' through Watchtower magazine"?

There isn't even a thread for Bakersfield reports at npgmc.

Ok, here is a post correcting the other post that was quoted:

I hope i'm not out of line by saying this, that is, if we are both refering to the MARCH 30, BAKERSFILED CA concert, but Prince did not play Darling Nikki. It was Kiss. Not one time did he play this song, not even a segue. He had the ladies on stage and if you recall, he passes the mic to one to sing into and she went cold! He looked at her, then looked at the audience and said, "She acting like she don't see me!" (not verbatim). It was off the chain!!! I hope I didn't offend, but i had to get it right!
peace

Good. Now I'm not kicking myself for not taking that 1 hour drive yesterday. wink

hmmm

There's one thread about the Darling Nikki thing up at the club, but it could have been posted by the same person who posted it here, and both could be fake. I'd just think that if he really DID do it, more people would be chiming in. But I haven't really seen much about the show at all, actually. Weird.
