on the chocolate invasion download..? what is track 8 "the dance"... i have all of the member downloads from the first year of the npgmc, but i don't remember this track... and i really don't wanna pay $10 only to find out that it's a song that i already have under a different title... help..?
also, is there any difference in the download albums of "chocolate invasion" and "slaughterhouse"..? or could i essentially make identical albums on my own with the tracks that i already have..? Mr. Ellis Dee-licious, the Official NPGigolo

I just posted this on another thread on the same subject, but it is a chilled out falsetto song, very a la Emancipation disc 2.
Lyrics are as follows: "I don't wanna give u my love, Cos i don't wanna lose my mind. I don't wanna give u my love, Cos if i do, it's gonna be the last time... I never wanna feel this way again If i can't be your lover, i don't wanna be your friend (no) I don't wanna be friends, (no) I don't wanna hold your hand, Cos i just wanna follow you everywhere (sho nuff) I don't wanna see you dance Cos i don't even really wanna, take the chance (of falling in love with you baby) Cos if you ever say the beautiful words to me, If i wanna be yo fantasy, yes I wanna dance. Yes. I don't wanna give u my love. I don't wanna go too fast, cos if i do you just might stay. I guess i'll have a lonely dance (?) The longer that i feel this way..." etc.

I heard a rumor that some of the tracks are different/longer.
Can anyone who's downloaded them confirm or deny this?

Can anyone who's downloaded them confirm or deny this? I just downloaded it. And it seems songs like Sex ME?Sexi Me not and U make MY sunshine are indeed a little longer. I'll check for the others. I really enjoy The Dance... "Goodness will guide us when love is inside of us... The Force will be with you, always"

For completists only I think.
Judging by the other songs I doubt that this one tune is worth the money. I could make a compilation like this with what I already have, but I won't because all the songs are quite crap so I'm happy to leave them strewn across various CDRs. It's not an 'album' as such anyway so there's no point really is putting them in an order etc. They're just a bunch of different songs. U can hardly say there is a Slaughterhouse album. Likewise with Chocoloate Invasion. I have them alongside my CNOTE, One Song etc. on a few CDRs. Now C-Note, that is a little more like a proper coherent album. ... I got to be honest, I wasn't a member of the club to pick up a lot of the songs which were available for download. I had U make my sun shine and a couple of others but that was it.
I agree, that there's a lot of poo on there. Some really duff songs. The Dance is actually a very good track, too.

Give me a few points of reference so that I can decide whether to feel a slight pang of irritation at not downloading a heap of songs I already have just to get one mediocre track I haven't heard.

Okay, as long as you promise not to download and then blame what you get on me. Out of 10...i dunno, about a 7.66 recurring. It sounds very like Emancipation disc 2. Ballad sung in falsetto with fairly rapid beats and synths. Basic melody played over and over (but it's a very pretty melody). I can't tell how some people will take to it. If you liked the 2nd disc of Emancipation (i don't rate it as much as some people) then you'll like it very, very much.

I did sit thru the entire album once, but promptly made a 10 song single disc and put the original on my shelf as a book end. Think I'll give it a miss and listen to 'Arms of Orion' instead.

If you were a member, it would be only $7. And is $10 that much money? i am a member... have been one since the beginning... however, in the musicology room it says $9.99, and you don't find out until you click download that it's actually only $7.77... and yes, when you're trying to make ends meet $10 can seem like a lot... ... that said, i went ahead and downloaded it because of the 2 extended tracks and the 1 new song.. If you were a member, it would be only $7. And is $10 that much money? WE DON'T LIKE NEW WAVE!!! EllisDee, I thought this day would never come, but I am SOOOO in your corner. It's a bummer to have to download the whole thing just for the one song and maybe a couple seconds here and there on other songs. And hey NewWave, send me $10, please? When you take taxes into account, that's about what I make an hour. So yeah, $10 is not negligible. Nobody ever said it was an unfair price anyway...just that it sucks to have to pay $10 for one freaking song. EllisDee, I bet you and I agree on something else: last night's concert was SLAMMIN'. No confusion, no tears. No enemies, no fear. No sorrow, no pain. No ball, no chain.

I love 'the Dance'.
Pull yr tight ass fingers out orgers & pay 4 this tune. It's great. smooth and moody with great falsetto singing. It sounds like something left off Emance. A highlight off the choc invasion. I just can't believe all the things people say !

Oh, I just got to pull my tight ass fingers out. I always forget that part.
If it sounds like any of that schmaltzy crap on Emancipation Disc 2, then you couldn't pay ME to listen to it all the way through. Who'm I kidding, I'm buying both of the fuckers Friday when I gets paid. Can't wait! I love all the Year 1 tracks anyway...they've been in semi-regular rotation for me since...well, since 2001, when they were released originally. No confusion, no tears. No enemies, no fear. No sorrow, no pain. No ball, no chain.

Think of it as buying a whole unreleased Prince CD in perfect quality ! Then U can sleep well like me I just can't believe all the things people say !

Just downloaded it....its better than many of the tracks on Musicology...reminds me a little of Emancipation..(soul santuary maybe but better)
actual lots of the these songs from the "High" album should have included on Musicology..."high" itself would have been a great first single....."Prince gonna get you High"... sometimes i dont get his choices... [This message was edited Tue Mar 30 20:13:52 2004 by emesem]

Oh come ON now, High would have been the WORST choice for a single back in 2000 when it was originally sorta maybe intended for the High project....4 years later it sure ain't faring any better. The production is silly, but what's worse are the lyrics, and the piercing falsetto (that non-hardcores DESPISE, trust me!) I mean, I can bump to High, don't get me wrong...but that song sho ain't got the rhyme to make ME tell a friend. No confusion, no tears. No enemies, no fear. No sorrow, no pain. No ball, no chain.

Hey its just an opinion but supercute, vavoom, high all have better hooks than anything on Musicology....My Medalion, Daisy Chain are interesting in terms of delivery and production..more so than I,C,P,C....neither are great albums but I think if you take the best off of TRC, HIgh and Musicolgy you might have a had a true Prince album... also, the falsetto did ok for Prince on Kiss (his biggest non purple rain hit)...

ok after hearing someone on the org i went and downloaded chocolate invasion
u make my sunshine has a minute of extended singing ... but in my opinion the song shoulda ended like it did originally. vavoom has about 30 seconds of instrumentation looped in. Nothing special sex me baby sex me not has about 1 min of a loop of 'judas smile' beat meshed with its own beat.. nothing else. the dance - i thought it sucked. then again.. i didn't like emancipation disc 2. dunno if this stutter beat thing sounds good in 2004 anymore. It's not stuff to die for like i thought... but u know the urge when u just gotta have something cuz it's out there. But if you year 1 members can suppress the urge you are really not missing much. The whole thing was intended for those who missed out anyways. It's basically paying $7.77 for 7 extra minutes of music. Instead get Musicology.. a whole album of new music. Nothing on here is groundbreaking but it's still pretty nice stuff. I don't know if there's any extras on the slaughterhouse yet. Anyone got the answer? -----------------------------------------------------------

in my opinion "high" is easily the worst download of 2001...i thought it was a terrible song... the only song that even competed with it for suckiness was "my medallion"... "i mean, bad... like bebe's kids"... ... so, i would rather see him release anything on "musicology" over "high"... Mr. Ellis Dee-licious, the Official NPGigolo
