Timbaland, the neptunes, and rick rubin, I'll get flamed for this, but, Dr. Dre too.

I would say Puffy too, just to see how horrible it would be. I'm curious.

Not to be funny or anything, but after listening to the Musicology album, I really don't want anyone else to produce Prince. Why would I want someone to take Prince's music and make it sound like someone else's stuff?

There's a part of me that really would like for Prince to allow one of his albums to be produced by another well known producer just so everyone that keeps raising this question can see once and for all how disastrous it would be. Hearing one or two songs re-produced on a maxi-single is not the same as having an entire album produced by someone else. I don't think it would go over as well as some of you think.

I agree wholeheartedly. I hate threads like this. That's like asking Prince to produce Stevie Wonder in the 1980's when Wonder's output was far below his 70's peak. True musicians shouldn't be produced by anyone but themselves. I think a great deal of you would be highly dissappointed if someone else produced Prince. They will take his entire sound away and his originality. Michael Jackson and Madonna need producers, Prince seems to do okay himself.

I would like to see just one Prince album produced by Robert John "Mutt" Lange.
Just sell out big time! Hit Singles, multi-platinum selling CD, over the top music videos.
It would be a trip to see him moving more units than Beyonce and Outkast. Only one man could guarantee that. Mutt Lange.

Dr. Dre,
I think that is really where Prince belongs no one else imo can really help him simplify and expand at the same time. Dre would not be intimidated really. But I don't think Prince needs a producer the stuff he is coming up with is off the chain to me. But for those of you who want him to make music like everyone else I would say Dr. Dre also I do have to admit I think it would sound cool.
Peace

My list:

Bjork (I agree. Takes one genius to produce another.)

Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis (if he could put his ego aside)

Wendy & Lisa (ditto)

Gamble and Huff (go all the way with one of those lush ballads/slow jams).

Marcus Miller (the basslines would be KILLER)

Meshell Ndegeocello (because she respects instruments, silence and the groove).

I'd pick Felix da Housecat.

When I see names like the Neptunes or Dr Dre (!) flung around, I just do this:

ill - bored

I can only imagine how tiresome the music would sound with some "phat beats" under his music and some stoned rapper "keepin' it real" two thirds through every track.
