Prince has been kicking my ass all over the place. Prince has been in rare form since the One Nite Alone tour.. It's just been continually groovy.
I was so impressed by the screening last night. It was perfect. It was like you were above, around and on the stage. Bigger than life. What a great show. I know what to expect now from the May shows. I'm interested in hearing folk's perspective from the floor. I'm feeling the album too. I'm gonna talk to some non club folks tonight to get their take in the show and the cd.. cracknbush

I can't wait for him to come to my town!!!!! In all honesty, I have never been a fan of "7". Never...... Then Prince steps up to the stage, dons a guitar and starts his accoustic set. Hearing "7" done accoustic style just floored me. I never really connected with the message before as the music always distracted me. But last night that accoustic version was inpsirational. It was flowing with such truth and conviction. It won me over. It made me cry. It did.... I've always loved that song...it's very close to my heart...hearing it last night brought tears to my eyes. Sometimes the message in that song can be hard to remember...but, last night I felt it again...and that's one of the reasons I do LOVE Prince. I looked for you last night, Richie... And, I talked to Pegs...she passed on my hug to you Did you see her on stage dancing back-to-back with the man? LOL...I was screaming in my theater seat!

My friend Krystina and I were standing by our seats and she says "I need to find Peggy from Detroit" and I turn around and there she was walking our way. I let out a scream and we ran to each other and hugged and yes....she did give me the hug you sent with her And I did see Peggy holding Prince up or was Prince holding Peggy?? I was just laughing when that happened. My friend and I were 2nd row on the other side of the stage from where Peggy and Prince held each other up. I'm so glad they showed this concert in the theaters because at least folks know what the fuck happened to us. It was simply fuckin incredible and amazing. . Anxiety said: I can't think of the last time Prince made my jaw drop.
Before this year, that is. Before the Grammy performance, that is. Before he reunited with Wendy on Tavis Smiley for "Reflection", that is. Before he dug out "I Feel For You" on Ellen, that is. Before he did that little dance to the couch on Jay Leno....you get the idea. And maybe I'm just easily amused, but damn. It's been a good year, and we're only three months into it. I just got home from the screening of the LA show, and I'm wondering how this guy can even be human after all he did up on that stage tonight. And my jaw hurts from hitting the floor so damn much. For all you cynics in doubt who don't think Prince can recapture a sliver of what he may have been worth to you in what you consider to be his glory days, prepare to be daddy's little bitch boy again. The man done woke UP. Asses were grinding. Guitars were smoking. The man's pushing fifty and he even managed to recapture the rolling around on the floor bliss that is the end of The Beautiful Ones. And I haven't even mentioned the acoustic set. Can we say "7"? "Forever in my Life", maybe? Oh yeah. Uh huh. That's right. Tonight was Prince's equivalent of Elvis' comeback concert. It was shit hot. The man is AWAKE. I'd love to go through a comprehensive track list right now, but after watching all that mess, I'm lucky to remember my own name. And then there's the album. Remember the title of this post? Ass kicked TWO TIMES? "Musicology" is a PRINCE ALBUM. Moreso than NEWS, Rainbow Children or Rave. It's an album like the symbol album. Like Diamonds and Pearls. Dare I say it, it's a Prince album like Lovesexy is a Prince album. Does Musicology MATCH his best albums? Oh, probably not. What can? But I'm telling you, it's the first true and consistent PRINCE ALBUM I've heard in years. Hate it if you gotta, it just leaves more love for me. I'm damn happy right now. Anyone who came back from that concert/simulcast feeling minus something just isn't letting it sink in. I'm amazed. Devastated. Bliss. It's gonna be a hell of a year, people. Enjoy it to the last drop. Wow. I am so damn Excited about this concert,I'm happy to hear he's doing the Beautiful Ones Love that song I am going this Fri In Dallas.

phaze said: For those of y'all who saw it onscreen during the picture house simulcast it must have been the bomb. But I was in Staples last night and just to let you know, I'm still dancing and grinning at work today. Damn, I feel so good right now. Prince did his thang.
Several times the house lights went off and the crowd would go crazy thinking the show was about to start, but lights were being tested and drama built giving fans caught in L.A. Traffic jams to arrive fashionably late. Several other times huge screams rose to the roof. Eddie Murphy, who I saw and I'm told by a friend who was there, Halle Barry walked from the floor entrances, up through the crowd to their seats. The lights went out again a little after 8pm and the tape of his Prince's Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction came on, featuring Alicia Keys. Then band hit the stage and Prince came out and lord have mercy, that's the best showman, musician, singer... How did Prince sound? Put on any of your albums and EQ it just right and THAT is how he was getting down, screams, riffs and all. The stage show wasn't the flash and dash of twenty years ago, but it was a great show because he was so in command of his voice, his guitar, that band, his showmanship and us, his audience. When he came back out and did the blues during his acoustic set and did Little Red Corvette, I looked around at folks and they were looking back at me b/c we couldn't believe we were hearing this. The lighting was so dramatic and the crowd was appreciative and excited. I sweated out my Marvin Gaye t-shirt shaking my ass with all the girls in my row. Last night the tickets said Staples Center, but I might as well have been on a space ship on the way to another planet. There was no time. There was no space. That concert was worth every penny I spent to go. I have been trying to see Prince since Purple Rain tour and could never get tickets, so last night was my first Prince show and brotherman did not disappoint. If you have tickets for future shows prepare yourself. Halle was there! Ah man, I don't know why I want to see this, but I wish Prince and Halle would take a picture with each or meet or something. That way Halle can get with a real freak instead of Eric (Let me stop!) No, I just wonder if Prince is a fan of her work as well and has he gone to see any of her movies. I wonder what other celebs attended. Please gimmie some info!
