Official DVD Release of SOTT !! Great news for every Sign 'O' the times lovers, the concert-movie has finally been officially released BUT only in Holland (region 2)
For more info look here: http://www.nl.bol.com This is what the accompanied text says: Voor het eerst op DVD en nu heel voordelig verkrijgbaar!! De film is een registratie van een concert dat Prince in Rotterdam gaf in het kader van zijn Sign O The Times Tour en bevat elf van de dertien songs van zijn gelijknamige dubbelalbum. Alle songs behalve Nows The Time werden door hem zelf gecomponeerd. Sign O The Times Play in the Sunshine Little Red Corvette Housequake Slow Love I Could Never Take The Place Of Your Man Hot Thing Now's The Time U Got The Look If I Was Your Girlfriend 4ever In My Life It¿s Gonna Be A Beautiful Night The Cross. A lot of bla, bla. The most interresting thing though is that the company which produced the DVD got the material with mono sound only, but they managed to find (? ) soundtracks of higher quality so that the DVD has Dolby Digital and DTS quality sound. I have ordered it. Hopefully I will receive it within 3 days. I don't think this is official is it?
I thought it was the same as the Brazilian release, only it had better sound quality. I read it is transfered from the laser disc release. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I caught the news on TV where a former representative from the dutch branch of BMG/Ariola (Henk Jan Smits, the chairman of the dutch Idols-jury) told it.
And since he is strongly against anything illegal concerning music, I guess it's an official release. The man of science has learned to believe in justification, not by faith, but by verification - Thomas Henry Huxley

"official" is a matter of opinion (and local national licencing law).
Let's just say that that it's only slightly better than the Brazillian release.

How do you know ? I just ent an email to Warner Benelux by the way, to ask if it's an official release; they should know. The man of science has learned to believe in justification, not by faith, but by verification - Thomas Henry Huxley

believe me, I know.
and I'll say one more thing... It's mastered from the VIDEO version (complete with the odd sound line) ...but the sound quality is a lot better than on the Brazillian release. I'm not saying it's not "official", cuz it is (in Holland) (the Brazillian release is 'official' in Brazil too) But it wouldn't be legit if it were released in the US or UK, and I think that says something in itself.

its just another ripoff vhs source.. does it have the widescreen version of the film? No; no widescreen; image is too dark and it is taken from a VHS with several and regular tape-hick-ups. It's a disgrace that this was put into production. The HQ-er formerly known as krokostimpy.

How do you know ? I just ent an email to Warner Benelux by the way, to ask if it's an official release; they should know. Why? They don't have anything to do with the movie release... Check with Universal/MCA, they released it back then and gave the go ahead for this DVD release in Holland... Neversin. O(+>NIИ<+)O
