No, it's fork. She was a refined older lady (knowing which fork to use) but she couldn't dance. Which is why the guy had to 'hip her' to the funk. He wouldn't have had to teach her if she already knew the funk.

I'm pretty sure it's "fork". The woman in the story is rich, very upper-crust; knows how to be "proper" but can't get funky - hence the line. That's why they trade "funk for finance". He uses her for cash, she uses him for sex and lessons on the funk! cool
