Prince with any backing band, be it the Revolution or the NPG, is a force of nature. Maybe I'm running the risk of overstating things a bit, but I can live with that. While still giving Clinton and Parliament/Funkadelic the massive amount of credit they deserve, I have 2 go with Prince when it comes to prolifacy, quality, and ability.

The P-FUNK all stars were formed in the 80's .... the time that George lost credibility
Parliament - Funkadelic ... greatest band ever

The NPG is formed in the 90's ..... the time that Prince lost credibility
The Revolution ..... only Parliament - Funkadelic and the JB's are better

But ... the Revolution (Prince's good times) is better than the P-Funk all Stars (George's bad times)

P-FUNK Allstars is Parliament/Funkadelic - all the same members.

I dig what you're saying that George and co were better in the 70s but as a live show they can tear the roof off on any given day.

I've seen both live and I've got to say if I could only see one band live it'd be P-FUNK, especially if I had a time machine! cool

Prince is awesome too live, but P-Funk's humour would probably make me lean towards them.

Eddie Hazel / Bootsy Collins / Maceo Parker ?
I've seen the P-Funk Allstars quite a few times .... but never with one of those giants (indeed, won't see Eddie ever).

They both great acts and it's like family now. P-Funk was the big picture for most outrageous black acts Rick James, Gap Band, Prince etc.

Maceo and Greg being with Prince. And Mallia Franklin and George all from P-Funk working with Prince. And Prince working with George it's all cool. They both have their ups and downs and major comebacks.

FUNK IS HEAR TO STAY!

I am king of the P-FUNK and i am not going 2 touch this one, when they talked about Prince vs. Hendrinx that was bad enough but now this is were i will sit back and just read the board on this one. The Revolution vs. the P-funk all-stars.....come on most of the revoluton was still in diapers when the funk was ON!!

the revolution beat the p-funk allstars...

but parliament & funkadelic in it's hey-day... sorry, but the revolution (with the exception of prince) does not have any musicians who can tackle eddie hazel, kidd funkadelic, bootsy collins, maceo parker, bernie worrell, etc, etc... that's how i see it...

that said, i'd still take prince over parliament and funkadelic... but as backing bands, i think p-funk wins...
