It's kind of funny that Prince never learned to play horns. Any reason for this? Brian Jones of the Rolling Stones, John Entwhistle of the Who and Graham Coxon of Blur can all play some type of horn. Why can't Prince?

Sax was in the original list when For You was comin out. I think hes "Ok" at sax but not fantastic.

I think Prince can play horns all right, but he’s not so great--he’s got standards, you know--when prince composes his horn sections, he sometimes plays a few demo tunes to his horn section--but he’s not so fantastic, maybe... I personally think Prince never pursued horns because..well... he's too thin! He doesn’t have that much lung power to play top-level horns.

Well, rememeber, Prince aint that great of a drummer either, and that is easier to play then horns. Prince doesn't really need to play horns; it is a bit of a background instrument.

He can't play them because he never spent time practicing

Sorry but why is it "funny" that he doesn't play horns? Also, I think that many people have no idea how difficult it is to master one instrument, let alone 10 or whatever the hell Prince plays.

It seems to me that questioning why Prince doesn't play the sax, flugelhorn, etc. is like asking Mile Davis why he never played the saxophone or drums. It would be, well, a stupid question!
