"musicology" already released as a single to radio stations... Mrs. Dee was driving home from getting her hair did, and she was channel surfing through the radio stations when she caught the lines "keep the party movin'"... she cranked it up, and sho' 'nuff it was "musicology"... ... i don't know how many other stations are playing it, but they're playing it on WQMG 97.1 which is in the triad area of NC (high point, greensboro, & winston-salem).. it's the smooth R&B and old-school soul & funk station out here...
so, just thought i'd give peeps the heads up to keep their ears open, cause it's out there... ... Mr. Ellis Dee-licious, the Official NPGigolo

Prince Does Deal With Sony Records
Elusive, reclusive and quite possibly totally barmy music legend Prince has announced a new record deal with Sony and will be reportedly releasing a new single ‘Musicology’ next month and you can hear it today. Since his acrimonious split from Warner Music in 1996, Prince has released most of his music himself via his own online music club, but has ended much speculation about whether or not he would form a partnership with a major record label yesterday by announcing he has signed a deal with Sony Music's Columbia Records. After his recent return-to-form performance at the Grammys earlier this year the diminutive musician is enjoying something of a renaissance at present, and will be undertaking a full US tour (and rumoured UK dates) later this year. His first release under the deal will be a new album and single both entitled 'Musicology' which is due to be released in the States on April 20 and rumoured to be hitting UK shops on April 19. Confirming the deal, Prince said about the new album: "I am really an artist and musician at heart, that's what I do.’Musicology' has no boundaries or formats. It is long overdue to return to the art and craft of music - that's what this album is about. School's in session." "Prince is a true genius," commented Don Ienner the President of Sony Music US "Over the course of his extraordinary career he's continually taken on new artistic challenges, and in the process he has repeatedly set new standards of excellence in popular music. “The songs contained on ‘Musicology’ have tremendous depth, power, and range,” Ienner continued, “Making the album an important addition to the Prince legend, and a must-have for his fans around the globe. I look forward to working closely with Prince as we bring Musicology to audiences across the country and throughout the world." But more to the point, we’ve heard it at Xfm. And it sounds f**king great. No confusion, no tears. No enemies, no fear. No sorrow, no pain. No ball, no chain.

i have to agree with the dude at xfm... i think the jam sounds fuckin' great... and personally, i don't care if other people (prince fans or otherwise) don't like it... if they like it - cool... if not - cool, also... all that really matters to me is how i feel about it... if other people like it, too, that's just gravy... grew up in danville, and can definitely say that WQMG has always supported Prince's music. They played the hell outta Adore, and a lot of other tracks that were never officially released as singles. He gets much respect there.

Wow, I was one of the lucky ones. I am in LA and I surfed through my presets and I heard sum fun-kay guitar riff and I recognized that unmistakeably sexy voice on Saturday afternoon (around 2PM PST). I had no idea the record hasn't been played too often cuz it is so new, I am glad I was able to hear it.
