All of P's guitar work, from his first album to now, no matter the tone or effect he uses is dead on. The guitar work that he does on 99% of The Time, Mazarati, etc is dead on . The boy is the shit. Period. SynthiaRose said "I'm in love with blackguitaristz. Especially when he talks about Hendrix."
nammie "What BGZ says I believe. I have the biggest crush on him." http://ccoshea19.googlepa...ssanctuary http://ccoshea19.googlepages.com

For him to be playing like that at the age of 20? Boy hasnt missed a lick. He's still the greatest guitarist to this day.

This thread is killing me!
It's so tough for me to choose because I like Prince the most when he's using his guitar PROMINENTLY in his songs. I am so appreciative of his genius with all of the instruments he can play, but I was OUTRAGED when a recent Rolling Stone overlooked him for their greatest guitar players of all-time issue. (I was even more angry when they didn't print my complaint letter...haha!) I said it to RS and I'll say it now...Prince gets overlooked as a guitarist by mainstream listeners and critics because he's TOO versatile. He doesn't HAVE to make the guitar the focus of a song...which is the simple, basic component of standard rock and roll. His refusal to make the guitar the all-the-time emphasis probably kept him from calling proper attention to how GENIUS we know he is with the AX!!! YEAH! Having said this, and while I love rhythm work, I love Prince the most when he's SHREDDING! Just off the top of my head, the opening riff to "When Doves Cry" is MIND-NUMBING. Who was it recently who said that he's still trying to figure out how to do that riff and can't? Famous guitar player said this! Maybe a ZZTop guy? Can't recall... Also, the final tirade of "Let's Go Crazy" is hot. I liked the "Chaos and Disorder" disc more than many because the guitar was so prominently featured. And we haven't mentioned his blues work. THE RIDE??? Pfft. I can't even talk about it... Keith/Kacey
