what you didn't see on Leno.... on the rerun of the promo before the show (during a commercial break on local news on my nbc affiliate) they showed the clip where prince puts the hankerchief in Mel Gibson's pocket, but then there is a little cut (where I assume someone re-attached the rest of the promo) Prince points at leno who says " (hey look,) those are panties" and the audience is laughing and making noise... yeah, Letterman and his sidekick (whose name I forget sorry) are with Prince , letterman is drinking something , and the sidekick says "Artist formerly known as Prince,meet the artist currently known as pinhead" and Letterman spits out his drink in shock 
Prince (sorry ) is wearing that really cool cream jacket with the gold leaf in the collar and sleeves that he wore on the cover of Q magazine also
