I gotta funny kid

Yesterday I was listening to Around the World in a Day ,(for the umpteenth time as I have been in that kinda mood), when my 10 year old daughter hears Condition of the Heart and really listens to the lyrics for the first time.

Hard to believe she's my daughter because she doesn't really dig Prince, so imagine my surprise when I noticed she was really listening, then she says...

"Mom, blinded by the daisies in your yard???"

lol

Then there was the time my younger daughter heard Face Down and sang "Dressed like Elmo.."

giggle

(For the record, yes I have shared this story before and I don't mind that they hear swears, but I do not listen to all Prince music around them)

Share your funny kid Prince moments!
I'm firmly planted in denial

that's one of my favorite lyrics of all time....

my friend's kid (3) who is a big fan of all the batman movies, happened to be in the car when my friend was listening to an old sign o the times cassette and (not the batman album, mind you) said, "that is The Joker singing"

Now this kid has no idea who prince is, what he looks like, or anything.

I kid you not.

I think it was direct association to the use of the songs in the movie to accompany the Joker's scenes.

I was babysitting my 2 neices the day that the Ellen show aired, so I made the kids watch it with me (one is a year and one is 3). The older one knows who Prince is because I always talk about him and have pictures all over my house. She is so cute she plays her little plastic piano and sings Let's go Crazy. Anyway, when Prince walked out for the first song she clenched her fists and squinted her eyes because she was all excited, and she says "Oh...I hope he sings Purple Rain!" It was the sweetest thing.

I've got video of my son, who was 1 at the time, dancing to FACE DOWN.
He absolutely loved that song! He would dance around, and when Prince
would sing his "FACE DOWN" part, my son would say it too, but like a second
too late, behind the beat...lol He would point his fingers too, like he MEANT
what he said!

That's the only part he would sing, but
he did try to say "Orchestra" like Prince...it came out VERY mumbled. lol
Thanks for the laughs, arguments and overall enjoyment for the last umpteen years. It's time for me to retire from Prince.org and engage in the real world...lol. Above all, I appreciated the talent Prince. You were one of a kind.

When my daughter was 6 .. she was in the backseat singing to " I would Die 4 U " whistle I thought...Oh how cute . giggle I turned the radio down in the midst of her singing and realized that she thought Prince was saying " Apple Dapple Do " instead of " I would Die 4 u " I cracked up lol but she didn't see the humor in it hmph! .... Kids...ya gotta love em

When ever it rains instead of singing "Rain Rain go away" my five year old sings "Let the rain come down, let the rain come down, let the rain come down down" lol

I am teaching her drums and how to keep a beat with "Crystal Ball". I knew Prince music would be good for something.

My nieces used to sing "apple, dapple, do" too. My sis-in-law had said she didn't want them singing about death. neutral

When my girl was a baby, she used to get all crazy whenever I played "Batdance" in the car. She was SO cute waving her arms up and down when she heard the first cords of the song. I played the song over and over whenever she was getting fussy. I told her this story not too long ago (she's 10 now), and she cracked up. We still have fun beating on the headrest or steering wheel at the drum parts and doing the guitar solo too. lol

Another funny thing that happened once when she saw "Purple Rain" for the first time a few years back when she was 6 (yes, I did quite a bit of muting and fast-forwarding). It cracked me up at the part when Apollonia is standing looking at the white guitar in the window with the anklet in her hand (after Prince walked away) when my girl said, "she's going to buy Prince that guitar!" lol These kids today are too savy at a young age.

I LOVE it! Imagine Prince putting out a new record just for kids featuring the much loved "Apple-Dapple-Do!"

My 2 year old puts a beer bottle cap on his chin and tells me he is Prince (it's meant to be some facial hair I think). My 3 year old has some light blue cloud pyjamas which he says is just like Prince (Raspberry Beret video). They love him because mummy loves him so much and he makes her very happy when she listens to his music which is good enough reason for them!!
