Open Book, new 12 disc outakes boot

It is mainly unreleased studio tracks and Princes versions of songs released by other artists. Demos and other versions of released songs have been avoided except in certain circumstances explained in brackets. my theories on why theyve been included anyway. The quality for tracks is the best available in most cases. While the Works volumes are briiliant and essential i like this set as it does not suffer from clutter and is a good account of unreleased trax that can be listened to like any album.

What do you all think of the track list?

so, where's it come from?
It's obviously a fan-made collection.

Nah, I think I'll keep my 'Works Volumes'.

Bumpsqaud is right, it's fan made, but then so is 12 inches 2 a yard and that is worth having, in my opinion i prefer Open Book as litening to the works is boring, too many repeated tracks and trax that are barely different to the released versions, dont get me wrong its a must for any fan, but i get put off by having to skip to the trax i wanna hear. this one can be put on and enjoyed as 12 complete discs with all unreleased songs. Plus there are a lot of trax that wernet on the works.

no, definately Prince's voice.

There's 2 versions of this track circulating.
The 'acoustic' blues in C version is a fake, but the 'full backing' version
(with totally different music to the Lovesexy Live rendition) is genuine.

there is an instrumental version circulating which is not performed by prince, just someone who copied it, then there is the one on this set which is with Prince vocals and the rreal macoy, studio version not the lovesexy live version.

yeah i think disc 1 is my favourite as its very early, the sound quality is not great on all of them but its good enough and its worth having as many of them were recorded by Prince on a home tape recorder, plus its cool to here his version of sweet thing

Most of that is the early stuff he did to get his contract with WARNER BROS.

I can't remember which track it is (maybe Make It Through the Storm or We Can Work It Out) but Prince says, in a really cheesy voice "Me and WB (Warner Bros) making music naturally!!".....God it's so camp and cheesy it's embarrassing, especially considering after what happened with his relationship with Warner Bros. eventually!!!!!

lol

CD-R neutral

Everything is out there already widely circulating.

Therefore not a bootleg release, just more rehash by fans, hopefully not from mp3 source. neutral

Shame about the Pure Funk set though, that looked promising, much better than than the 'add 1 new uncirculating out-take to a 2CD set and call it new' approach that Thunderball adopted for so long.

IF I HAD A HAREM is pretty goofy, but yes, the version with Prince singing it with a light rockabilly feel is true... but that still doesn't make it a very good song.
The expanded version of my book PRINCE and The Purple Rain Era Studio Sessions 1983-1984 was released in November 2018. (www.amazon.com/gp/product/1538114623/ref=dbs_a_def_rwt_bibl_vppi_i0) or www.facebook.com/groups/1...104195943/

I was just going to say that I have been seeing the same stuff circulating for years. I think the chances of any outtakes we haven't heard from the vault to pop up are slim.
