Glad I'm not the only one to notice that this was a special moment in Prince history. For all who don't believe he belongs in the all time top 10 guitarists of all time, they need to be tied down and forced to watch this.

i feel sorry for ya'll over there.... Oh, just feel sorry for Cal; I'm on the west coast too, and I'm in the midst of watching it aired back to back right now. This post not for the wimp contingent. All whiny wusses avert your eyes.

To say it was a clinic is an understatement. I was expecting A LOT from this performance, going into it, from what I heard. And some how, some way, this BLEW my expectations out of the water. My roommate watched it with me and was threw for a serious loop, and he's heard a lot of my Prince shit. Including ONA Live and It Ain't Over. I saw Harrison's kid too. He saw that something good was going to happen and egged it on. He saw the pot brewin' I guess U could sy. I don't know what eslse I can say about this. Comparitively, those other fools on stage with him(all respect due), didn't look as if they could play like that with another 30 years of experience. I'm gonna watch it again!
I'm adding this later: I'm in Cali and it's not all the same story here. Those with Direct TV get the East Coast feed! I'm gonna write Direct TV one of those complementary letters and hope someone reads it on TV. Like Lil' Jon or someone crazy like that! That was a clinic on what the guitar can do - simply beautiful... Awesome...Dayum! It's amazing how 60 or so seconds can make you forget years of frustration. If Prince never plays another note, he would have left things on an incredible high. It Ain't Over... Amen to that! I've been a devout prince fan for over 20 years, and that solo was the most breathtaking, mind-blowing thing I've ever seen Prince do! In many ways, I think it was a big "F You" to all the redneck jerks who booed him off the stage when he opened for the Stones back in 1981! Is there any doubt left that he's one of the greatest guitarists? This statement was a long time coming for Prince!

I remember watching Stevie Ray Vaughn play guitar on a show...he
blew my mind, fast, accurate, just God-given talent on the guitar...I went out and bought his CD right after that... I think Prince just 'enlightened' a few young minds tonight to do the same. Thanks for the laughs, arguments and overall enjoyment for the last umpteen years. It's time for me to retire from Prince.org and engage in the real world...lol. Above all, I appreciated the talent Prince. You were one of a kind.

-He lit the stage on fuckin' fire!
-He literally jumped into that guitar, and screamed through it! -I just watched it for the 5th time, and I still can't close my mouth. -He leaned off of the stage, and his body guard/tech held him as he was playin! -Guitar weeping?...that lil' man made his guitar cry like a cracked out, bald eagle! -The man threw his guitar in the air, and pimped off stage like; "yeah, I showed them MF's" -I can't sleep now... -This for all the 'haters' over the past years, including the ones that frequent this site as well You're kinda quiet now, aren't you? I hope Prince's guitar solo pierced your psyche and made you weep like his guitar did...don't bother digging through your record collec. to find sumthin to compare to that solo...THERE IS NONE! Peace, I love ya'll Blue Blue

That was the guitar solo to end all guitar solos. Prince rocked it hard and long and fast and strong. He is the man always and forever. Good lawd. I'm so jealous of his talent, but I appreciate it very much. He is incredibly gifted, and I'm thrilled he's in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. He personifies true musicianship.
On another note, I want to have 10,000 of Dhani Harrison's babies.

OH MY GOD!!! Prince never ceases to amaze me, but that was f*cking incredible.
Shock and Awe to the nth degree. Damn, a network needs to pick up this show. More people need witness the greatness that is PRINCE!!!!! Come on CBS. If you can air that lame-ass Michael Jackson special, the least you can do is put a REAL musician on your airwaves. The Grammys don't count. Let me stop rambling. I gonna be watching that performance all night. Thank you Prince.

I thought it was a very good solo. Prince was hammin' it up, though. And, I'm not sure how cool that was, given that it was supposed to be George's moment. (Pondering the boundary between showmanship and oneupmanship.)
I also thought Prince's wonderful performances were marred by his apparent refusal to "mingle" with the other celebs and inductees backstage. I thought Dhani's, "Where's Prince? I want to give him a hug," was hilarious. Because Prince was nowhere to be found. And, on the finale? No Prince. It's really sad, to me, that he'll only participate when he gets a spotlight moment like "... Gently Weeps." The excuse that he'll freeze near so much other talent didn't wash with me for USA for Africa, and it holds even less water (2-for-1 cliche deal) all these years later. And, that wasn't just my opinion but also that of a friend of mine. Of course, after seeing his solo in that set, she was like, "See? That's why he won't hang with the others. He prefers to live in his own world." I also was impressed with Steve Winwood. I didn't know the man could play guitar THAT well! He was awesome!

WOW !!
I rememeber the first time i saw Purple Rain. I was truly mesmorized . Ecspecially at the end Where Prince leaves the stage all emotional, thinking of his mom and dad, and walks away Mad as hell thinking that it was all over. Then he hears the crowd and realizes that they loved him. RAW !!! I absolutely loved it .....It made me cry !!! Well I got that feeling all over again during that SOLO during "my guitar gently weeps" I knew it would be special, but DAMN !!! IT was Truly inspiring, makes me so happy to see things like this. I'm sure that there is a whole generation of aspiring musicians who will check this out and go want to find more of his music . He truly evoked some guitar legends spirits during that solo. It was allready a beautiful song..... I'm just all tore up now.....gotta go. .........................................................................................................Free your mind and your ass will follow......

With the editing, you can't tell how much time really passed before the finale. Everyone would've been screaming about him being late to the aftershow then. (now that I think about it, don't I remember hearing this show actually went on over 4 hours? He also had the 'reception' thing that Dave Chappelle mentioned which sounded like it was after the club show.) [This message was edited Mon Mar 22 1:26:27 2004 by Serena]

During a commercial break Dhani, George Harrison's son was asking where was Prince.
He wanted to give him a hug. Prince was touched and obviously had respect for George Harrison and was well aware of the fact that Dhani Harrison had lost his father. Prince played with abandon and with a lot of emotion. That was the the most powerful moment of the night. Good for you. It was perfect and message sent and received.

The look on George Harrison's son face tells it all. That reminds me of MJ during the 25th Crammy performance. The way MJ galvinized the public with his dancing prowess. Prince has done with his guitar skills, no doubt will be looked at in the future as the end cap on the career of the greatest musician ever. Not stevie, not hendrix, not marvin, not (u fill in the blank) The G>O>A>T (the greatest of all time) is alive and coming to an arena in the round near you! 1 over Jordan...the greatest since

Fareekin' Incredible, yeah... that's right!!!
I can clearly see/feel many of you were affected in similar ways. You know, personally I had a shit day... and come 11:00-11:30 p.m. Az. time... watching Prince during that RRHOF Guitar Solo literally made my entire day of grief slip away in just a minute of time. Thank goodness for Prince, when all goes weary... his showdown and out of this world musical genius gave and continues to give me chills along with one big fareekin' smile. I almost jumped out of bed to come post my excitement, although I chose to turn off the TV and take the happiness/smile with me while I drifted off to sleep. As you can see... I still have it <---- come morning and it is what I needed to start this silly day. Actually, I think I will go fareekin' watch it before I start my day... yeah, that's what I will do. Oh my goodness, Prince will be here in Glendale in just over a weeks time. I can hardly wait! (by the way... the word fareekin' is so cute, I like it) Beautiful day all.
