RRHOF Guitar Solo - Are You Fareekin' Kiddin' Me?!

If there has been a better live guitar solo, I can't think of it.

That was a clinic on what the guitar can do - simply beautiful... Awesome...Dayum!

It's amazing how 60 or so seconds can make you forget years of frustration.
If Prince never plays another note, he would have left things on an incredible high.

It Ain't Over...

I was thinking the EXACT same thing. He's finally really going for it again and showing the world! 5 years ago he wouldn't have even attended this show and he definitely wouldn't have played a cover tune with Tom Petty! This performance was possibly the best guitar solo I have ever heard in my life.

He's back and he's FIERCE!

Prince literrally played the crowd to their feet. When the song first starts and throughout most of the song, people are just sitting down at their tables. But once Prince kicked it into high gear, you could see the people standing in disbelief.

It blew me away, and I've seen Prince play guitar solos countless number of times. I can only imagine what his performance did for those who had no idea just how good Prince is on guitar.

I still have the chills from watching it.

I know we're all biased Prince fans, but... somebody hit the nail on the head when they said that this Hall of Fame performance by Prince and that blistering guitar solo is now going to be the measuring stick... everything else will surely pale in comparison for some time to come. Prince's solo is now THE guitar solo.

That performance completely solidified the very reason I am a Prince fan.

The fact that Tom Petty, Paul McCartney, and Jeff Lyne could be completely upstaged by one pint-sized man in a pin-striped suit amazes me. At the moment the spotlight came on to Prince, I think that it was pretty obvious to everyone on that stage that they were nothing but glorified back-up for his royal badness.

As everyone elses guitars were gently weeping, Prince's was sobbing uncontrolably. I thank Prince for doing his thing up there and reminding an industry what it means to be an artist. I am grateful and proud to be a fan. Thank-You Prince!!!! biggrin
Strange, but I'm more comfortable around you naked.

Fantastic. I watched 3 times and still amazed. He truly made everybody else look lame performance wise, but still much respect for the rest of the group in their tribute to another Rock Legend. I kinda thought of Prince as truly a modern day Hendrix/Clapton at that moment.

Profound

That was one of the most murderous guitar solos I've ever heard him play.

He destroyed Clapton's playing on the record and live -- pretty the same band (Petty's band) played this tune on the George Harrison tribute concert DVD which recently came out, and Eric sounded like shit. Prince's solo is the new standard. For a show honoring history, he actually made some that night.

All I can say is WOW. It was fantastic! I've always known why I ride this ride.... WOW

As much as there were all these legendary performers on with Prince, I think the only one who TRULY got IT was Dhani Harrison. He was absolutely adorable.

THe solo on my Guitar Gently Weeps was beyond imagination. He kept looking at the other guys to see if he was stepping on peoples toes. Then he finally gave in to the music and it was incredible.

If you watch the performance you could see Tom Petty telling P to really go for it . Kind of like saying "come on, show us what ya got". He did just that . He played that solo with the same intensity that he does purple rain. It was just beyond cool !!!!! Simply AMAZING

Well.... not exactly. Prince DID throw his guitar up about 10 feet in the air for his technician to catch before he slowly strutted off stage. biggrin
