I can't sleep now.
. . edit: Notice how Prince keeps watching Tom Petty at the end of every 16 measures or so to see if Petty will let the song continue so Prince can play more. Scary thought: what if Petty decided to be a jerk and cut the song short, right after Prince's first guitar phrase? Or even the second or third. Thank goodness Prince was given almost 3-minutes to play!! It's actually Prince's final nod to Petty that lets Petty know it's okay if Petty wants to end the song now, and the last note we hear is that of Prince's sustained guitar being thrown into the air, then Prince kicks off his pedal and walks off the stage. During a commercial break Dhani, George Harrison's son was asking where was Prince.
He wanted to give him a hug. Prince was touched and obviously had respect for George Harrison and was well aware of the fact that Dhani Harrison had lost his father. Prince played with abandon and with a lot of emotion. That was the the most powerful moment of the night. Good for you. It was perfect and message sent and received.

I just checked out the RS list of the 100 best guitartists again and just about had aneurism. They have Kurt Cobain at #12!! Ahead of Jeff Beck and Carlos Santana! ANd Prince isn't even ON there!!!
Sorry. I'm a bit late with the reaction. "I saw a woman with major Hammer pants on the subway a few weeks ago and totally thought of you." - sextonseven

I know what he's capable of but this just blew me away! Could have listened to that performance all night long! Nice to see everyone, including Prince, enjoying the performance! He was really in to it! All night, he seemed happy. He's been appearing alot more and seems alot happier doing so! Tonight he's on Leno! Wonder what prank he'll do on Jay?

I think Prince wanted to show everyone he was as serious as they were, but wanted to bring the fun into the performance. It will go down as possibly the best solo ever on television.
Maybe that's a bit much. lol I actually bowed to the tv. All you others say Hell Yea!!

Everyone said it already, I wanted to say it last night, That was truely the smartest thing he's done for his tour promo. All these people who only think of the 80's hits have been schooled. Prince is Jimi, back from the dead! I can't stop playing it over and over. I got a hard on from that guitar solo.
