Jazz on TRC vs Jazz on News / Discussions

Jazz on TRC is superior to the Jazz on News.
Sounds like a step backwards, hell even the guitar playing and moods are better.
That NEWS sounds like some jazz popularists liek he was influenced by Najee type of stuff, and it led to a boring song like Call My Name. Not a good trend is shaping up.

There are no annoying lyrics on NEWS.
If prince.org were to be made idiot proof, someone would just invent a better idiot.

So, are you telling me you've heard the full version of the bad-quality snippet of what sounds like an excellent song?... eek

There is hardly any Jazz on either of those records. Jazz is a free form of music.

No. That would be Free Jazz, actually. It's just one genre (or rather an approach) to this style of musical expression. There's no call for absolute or even restricted freeness in jazz - Swing isn't free either. Neither was the New Orleans jazz. There's also a lot of orchestral jazz music and no one would deny it's status as "genuine" jazz.

Let me guess you don't really like Prince's current stuff do you? Listen I think that it is a waste of time comparing the two albums because they are drastically different. I don't think one is 'better' than the other they are simply two different works. TRC has many great moments but then so does NEWS. Most people who bought NEWS did not get it because most of them don't really get Jazz in the first place. Which is cool Jazz isn't for everyone and neither is NEWS but me personally I love NEWS I listen to it quite frequently and I let many person listen too without telling them who it is and they love it. I don't see the Najee influence so much as I see Herbie Handcock and the HeadHunters influence.
Najee', Kenny G etc. their brand of Jazz has never really been my flavor and I think that NEWS is much stronger than that. I like NEWS in sections as much as the Madhouse stuff. I really wish people would stop being so judgemental when Prince drops an album it takes a second to hear where he is coming from before most of his music is to be digested.
Peace
