I've only been to one aftershow myself, and it was th BOMB. In LA on 4/20 or 4/19, one of the two, of the ONA tour. I've been to several concerts. I must say I am a fan of the aftershow. Even judging from what I hear on the boots as well. I usually enoy the aftershow recordings a whole lot mo bettah.

Well, seemingly, back in the day (we're talking pre-Hammy Graham days here folks) that was the case, but not only do his aftershows seem 2 be getting more and more formulaic, but the buzz of attending (and the excitement of finding!!!) the ever-elusive aftershow has now been hi-jacked by the legendary: 'the aftershow is at... (insert club here) announcement over the PA. *cue mad rush 2 club, with hundreds of others and they pay some ridiculous cover charge on the door, instead of invite only. The last one that I attended that I thought was any kind of spontaneous fun was back in 1993... [This message was edited Fri Mar 19 14:31:33 2004 by bananacologne]

I think Concert Prince is my favourite, because no matter what, aftershows (though I've only experienced one) are on so late I am half asleep by then and can't enjoy so much. But on the other hand, I prefer recordings of aftershows to big concerts, then I can listen over and over and enjoy very much.

I prefer seeing big arena shows. That's when you see him jump around a lot more and tease the audience. Also, he has all these special effects and stage props and stuff. It kicks ass!!!!! NEW WAVE FOREVER: SLAVE TO THE WAVE FROM THE CRADLE TO THE GRAVE.

I've only attended two concerts and one aftershow. However, I've attended many shows at Paisley Park over the years which kinda has that aftershow feel. The concerts were great, but standing three feet away from a huge speaker that Prince is sitting on and playing his guitar is just priceless. NCC2012... your local Trekkie. =/\=

Prince is going to appear in a huge amphitheater in my city -- about 19,000 seats. I am NOT looking forward to that...I don't know how he expects to stage a concert in the round in that venue...

I take it you never saw the Lovesexy tour. It had the hands-down most genius staging I've ever seen in an arena, to this day.

small venues and aftershows without a doubt...Now an arena is cool as long as you're sithin 20 ft. of the stage...I can't imagine a Prince concert from far off in the distance...It be like watching it on the tele.

Great question! Definitely the aftershow and the small venues. Even the preshow during the One Nite Alone tour was cool. I was never a big fan of the catered stageshow antics. I like seeing Prince playing the heck out of the guitar to the great songs that he would never play at an arena tour where half the people are just waiting for the "hits."

Aftershow without a doubt. Way more musicianship happening there.
