I was wondering. Much of the unreleased material that is around now has been around for quite some time. Have been any new songs that have gone into circulation only in the last couple of years?

Do people horde rare material for long periods and keep it all to themselves? How much would 1 rare, unreleased song be worth to someone who had one?

I know there doesn't appear to be much leaked material from the last few years, so the tracks coming out must be older. Therefore they must have been in someone's hands for a long time. How could they keep it a secret and hold on to it for so long?

It's not that they horde, but their is a collectors market/trade ring, outside that of 'commercially' released bootlegs.

These people trade the tracks, and keep them to themselves.

That's how tracks end up in such low quality when they are 'released' on bootleg - people change the pitch, reduce the quality, or edit/clip the tracks - to keep track of 'their' tracks - so if one does fall into the wrong hand (so to speak) then they know who it came from.

I'm not saying this is right or wrong, but I can see how other fans are frustrated that they keep these tracks to themselves, and I can see that they would not want to give away something they 'worked' to get hold of, which does have a high perceived value amongst fans.

When things are released, there are far more many fans complaining about the quality, or that it's not enough, or what they expected, than there are fans offering thanks and praise for giving something out to the fans outside of these 'inner' circles of fans.

So I can certainly see why people would not want to give material out - In fact, I would much rather them sell them to bootleggers than give them out for free over the internet every blue-moon.
