MUSICOLOGY MUST SUCCEED OR ELSE.

PRINCE HAS NOT HAD A HIT RECORD SINCE 1996, AND IF HE DOES NOT GIVE AN ALL OUT EFFORD, THAN HIS CAREER AS WE KNOW IT MAY BE OVER. THE TITLE SONG ON THE NEW CD AND REFLECTION ARE NOT HIS BEST EFFORDS BY FAR. WE ARE TALKING ABOUT A MAN WHO MADE SONGS LIKE LITTLE RED CORVETTE, 1999, AUTO-MATIC, DMSR, EROTIC CITY AND SOMUCHMORE. PRINCE SAID TIME AND TIME AGAIN THAT HE ONLY WANTS TO DO NEW MUSIC BUT, HIS SO CALLED NEW MUSIC IS OLD. AND IT'S TIME HE PUMP HITS OR IN 2004 PRINCE WILL BE NOMORE!! PEACH LAX!

WELL, PERSONALLY I THINK HIS RECENT EFFORDS HAVE BEEN A RETURN TO FORM OF SORTS. I THINK HE HAS PUT A GREAT DEAL OF EFFORD INTO THESE AFOREMENTIONED EFFORDS AND WE SHOULDN'T BE SO QUICK TO DISMISS THEM SO QUICKLY CONSIDERING THE TIME AND EFFORD THAT WAS DEVOTED TO THEM. LET'S JUST HOPE HIS LATEST ALBUM IS GOOD, AND NOT WORRY ABOUT WHAT IT HAS TO BE OR MIGHT BE OR WHAT WILL HAPPEN IF IT ISN'T EXACTLY WHAT EACH OF US INDIVIDUALLY WANTS.

same here.

But I do agree that he shouldve released "So Far So Pleased" in 99 (?), that wouldve been BIG!

And "Baby Kniows" with the right videos. He has the potential, and his back catalogue vault are full of can be hits....

I can see "1000 Hugs and kisses" recieveing good reviews.
Straight Jacket Funk Affair
Album plays and love for vinyl records.

Really??? confuse

Wouldn't consider that a strong hit or even an album filler. I agree that the two Rave tracks u mentioned might have been hits (to some extent - top 20 maybe) if pushed.

Who cares what the mainstream thinks about Prince, He will always do his thang 4 us that's been with him all these years. The 1's that stuck with him when he wasn't in front of the camera.

I disagree. Yes a hit would definitely help matters, but it is not absolutely necessary for his 2004 projects to be considered a success. All you need is a positive buzz and momentum. He's already got both going for him. Jimmy Buffett is still a huge concert draw and he hasn't had a hit since 1977. All this exposure and the promise of a crowd pleasing hits oriented set list will make Prince a guaranteed success this year. I think Prince's career will be over when he says it's over.

Is it a hit if it plays at radio and goes to number one, or is it a hit if it moves units? Because read my post about Musicology going Platinum. It is already a hit. Shows are selling out and every ticket is another Unit moved.

My response, Musicology HAS succeeded...

...cause Spanky said so!
I wish u heaven

How long since David Bowie has had a big hit? I don't see people on bowie.com all bent out of shape about how "Reality has to be a hit or Bowie is over!" Who cares? He sure didn't seem over when I saw him earier this year? Do the Rolling Stones still have big hits? I think Bowie, Prince, the Stones etc. can keep on doing what they want, put on great concert tours and put out cool music. Maybe none of them have big hits anymore but all are well respected and far from over. Why are Prince fans so concerned whether each record will be a big hit?

Prince's career will never "be over". Even if Musicology and his next 5 albums flop he will still be Prince, and have his core fans supporting him. The ticket sales for the new tour are looking really promising.

Many of them want bragging rights, whether they admit it or not.
