still the one

anybody out there who has seen prince perform this cover of this shania twain song?

i believe i was lucky enough to be among the first to see it at paisley back round '98.
and i gotta say that was one fine ass version. along side the sweet vocals, he hits that chorus hard.

and i heard there a studio version of this song, that i daresay must be smokin'.

i only know of a couple of other instances where he played this live.

I saw him play it live a few times at Paisley Park as well and your right it was smoking. As far as the studio version .... stay away from it....FAR away.

Was it the studio version that was released as a free download in real audio back in 1997?

Yep, with Marva King. Terrible quality, but I think you can still get it on that one website that archives the websites.

Uh - you got me excited about those live versions. I only have one, if i remember it right, it`s from a gig in Switzerland. But they stop playing the song after a few bars. And i liked the studio version already a lot.
And that one got lost when my ex ex computer had a complete breakdown.
Great song anyway.

I once have read in uptown that he played this song ( i believe it was at PP , as mentioned ) with a great guitar solo at the end....
Kaufleuten was very short but is this version of pp available>

Kind regards

Rafael
