Musicology Tour vs. Lovesexy Live '88... HELP ME

Someone sell me on dropping a few hundred bucks on seats for this Musicology tour. Caught Prince making comparisons to the Lovesexy "in-the-round" shows but I'm concerned that these new Disney-ish Prince stops could be a let down as I've cherished my '88 experience for so long. Anyone out there with high hopes for this one?? (Or should I save up for the Alicia, Beyonce, & Missy tour?)

It depends but I expect to see Prince in rare form this time. I don't think it will be anything like the Lovesexy tour because he is stressing the fact that he has revamped the hits to play them live for the last time( not that I totally believe the last time thing but he hasn't played 1999 since the rave gig). I expect the energy to be high but different from 88 because there is something special to me about P doing this tour at this time with the whole industry calling this his return. I wouldn't, however, pit this gig against the whole Missy Beyonce and Alicia tour because to me, they don't compare to seeing Prince live.
I'm an org elitist... totally unapproachable.

Your wise not to believe it ... because he hasn't said he will play them for the last time - that's just the PR blurb on the press release.

Instead whenever it has been raised with him in person, he has explicitly stated that he will simply play them for the last time in a while.

lovesexy was a once in a lifetime tour. i was not fortunate enough to be there but i've seen it on video and listen to the audio frequently. i'm not a big live bootleg fan but my livesexy gets a lot of play on my stereo! i don't doubt musicology will be a great performance, with lively and energized performances of old hits. keep in mind, though, that p will most certainly NOT be reviving any songs from the black album and the hits will be family friendly. this is not a 30 year old, sexually/religiously ambiguous prince. this is an adult, matured prince who knows who he is. it will be a very different show. i'm sure there will not be all of the theatrics that were such a crucial element to the lovesexy show, also. it will be a great show, for sure. but it will not be the lovesexy tour or anything comparable.

if i were you, i'd save my money, but not necessarily for that Missy Elliott-Alicia Keys tour. I'm simply not going to shell out between $70-$120 to hear old music performed vegas-style. When he tours with a new album (i.e., new music) then I'll pay money (and still not $70-$120) for a ticket. I'm glad a guitarist has been added to this band, but it simply doesn't compare to the Lovesexy band and I doubt this tour will compare to the Lovesexy tour. That was one incredible experience!

I've bought tix and none of them have been over the 80 something price range.
Go see the Prince tour! I have never regretted one yet (26 years). I enjoy Keyes and Missy, but live is all different. Missy won't have a band and Keyes has yet to prove she's earned her way to world wide.

This will be a far more straightforward show, minus all the overarching big themes and theartrics.
Because of that, I can only envision a much more stripped down stage set.
But then, who knows?
A couple of things are for sure...the man always has great light effects,
and it will be a party and a good time.

I was not impressed with Lovesexxy. He played that obsure music (the black album).
Yet I was fortunate to be seated close and in front of him because he didn't move much(i do have empathy for the other concert goers). The effects on Anna Stesia was cool. I pray this time around is way better than Lovesexxy.

Lovesexy was an amazing experience.
If this comes anywhere NEAR that, the $$$ will be worth it.

Let's see what the man produces this time around for us!!!
By St. Boogar and all the saints at the backside door of Purgatory!

nahhh Lovesexy is the one til my day is done!

Musicology smells of a big $ grab to capitalize on 20th anniversary of Purple Rain. Prince know how to have patience and wait for his turn to come around...again..and again..and again..and

Speaking of Livesexy anyone else see it minneapolis on 9/14/88? Damn that was an unbelievable show! He changed the show from Germany and did a huge guitar solo during "cross the line" in a blinding sea of white light.

i think the tickets were $ 40 bucks a pop **tee hee**

btw here's a great page of info on lovesexy tour:

save it before P gets it shut down lol
