The Parade birthday gig is pretty slick. It's the concert where the Anotherloverholenyohead clip is from. He is just on form the whole time.

It was only officially released in Europe. The US fans had to get bootlegs of the concert. If this were ever to be released on DVD (as well as just about all his other concert videos) I would snatch it up in a heartbeat. Heh heh, I said "snatch"! Do not hurry yourself in your spirit to become offended, for the taking of offense is what rests in the bosom of the stupid ones. (Ecclesiastes 7:9)

In fact, y'all got several releases we didn't: "Lovesexy 88", "The Undertaker" and "The Sacrifice Of Victor" were all European & Asian releases that never made it to US shores (however, the latter two were available as high priced Japanese imports, and TSOV was shown on VH1). They are imports if you buy them from a store that imported the actual retail copies from overseas and paid... well who knows how much IF you could even find them. I personally have NEVER seen them available for sale as legit imports at a retail outlet. I bought my LOVESEXY 88 vids from a record show bootlegger (VHS) and eBay (DVD). They are absolutely bootlegs dubbed from the original European releases. My UNDERTAKER and VICTOR tapes are the same. Keep in mind that there are formatting issues also. The European stuff is PAL and in North America we need NTSC. So I probably coudn't play a legit copy even if I found one. While we're on the topic... I have a burning question about LOVESEXY 88 for an owner of the originals. On my DVD and VHS the two tapes are dubbed in opposite orders!! The first half of the VHS is the second half of the DVD!! Which tape comes first? What is supposed to be the first song? And is it supposed to represent one long concert or two completely different ones? I could never figure it out.

Yeah that's the same on the UK tapes. Lovesexy 1 is actually the 2nd half of the concert, & vice versa.

Even the official vids are messed up...they got the second half of the concert labelled as video 1. Kinda confused me when i first sat down to watch 'em...I was wondering why P looked, sorta...worn out on the 1st video.

Okay, just to be clear - the Eye No is the 2nd half, and the Erotic City with the, "Snare drums pound on the 2 and 4...all the party people get on the floor...Bass..." is the 1st half. Though i never attended the tour, that's my understanding.

I have both the Lovesexy Tour and the Parade tour on VHS. Both are really good. Musically, set wise and performance. If you can get a copy, they are both well worth it.
Not sure which one I like better. They are both pretty darn special. The Parade tour looks like it was released or slated for release. The other looks like a broadcast for TV thing. One cannot watch these and not think that he is one of the greatest performers of our time. I am mesmerized each time I watch them. Parade Favorite moments: The opening where he is just dancing/flitting around the stage with that tambourine. The horn instrumental where he lifts his shirt up to reveal a nipple at the end. Head. He’s lying down on the stage dry humping the stage and starts going into the lyrics of Hot Thing…”I can read you poetry…I’m feeling a little bizarre”…one can tell he was already thinking of his next album and move. Oh and the happy b-day part was cool too. Loverholeinyohead…yes this one is really good as well…I love this song live. The whole video is kinda short…appx one hr. Shame it ends with mountains during the credits. The audio companion to this would be Septembre. Much more music and you get like 9 min of Love Bizarre…which is another moment where the music gets minimal and it’s just him thinking stuff up. Lovesexy favorite moments: Certainly the opening sequence with him and shelia and cat stands out as one of the best openings a concert has seen. The stage of course was brilliant. The whole rock sequence with sister, jack u off delirious is freeking HOT! But my absolute favorite moment starts with controversy/dirty mind and goes into supercalifragisexy(being tied with neon)/Bob george (looking all funkadelic! With those glasses) and the first half finale of Anna stasia. That went over everyone’s head…even mine at the time I went to the concert. Looking at it many years later…I practically crapped my pants when I saw it on video for the first time. Oh and then the ballet and the second half opening…Highlight of the second part was the grand piano part where he came out looking like Liberace (good god!) and did the piano medley and played with the audience. He also did the full version of I wish you heaven…I think. Another highlight was Shelia E’s drum solo…oh yes very special. I remember that in concert I thought she was going to drum the roof off of the Rosemont Horizon (good god x2!). I have seen these vids for sale a few times (Lovesexy more than the other). In chicago, I know where to find them…here in san fran…I have no idea…so if someone knows of a place to try …unless these are boots but I don’t think they are…just imports right? And if anyone knows about this please help….I went searching online Kazaa etc… and I came across a video from the hit and run tour for controversy and mutiny…Where is this from? And another of Darling Nikki…he’s not playing instruments and this girl comes out in a scholl uniform and DN is played…very hot! Anyone know where this is from as well…I want to say it looks like the nude tour era. And I came across my name is prince from Arsenio..OMG (tell me… what’s my line!) That was a performance…though I never got hip to the chains in the face/hat. What was that all about. Loved the Vanessa Bartholomew bit in the beginning. Are there other videos out there? to clarify....there was definitely no Parade tour official vid released anywhere....but the birthday show (an edited version of the show) was shown around the world on TV (certainly it was broadcast a couple of times in the UK on Channel 4).
lovesexy - the vids are numbered bizarrely, but most likely because the big hits are on Lovesexy 1 (actually the second half of the show)....again this was pretty easy to bootleg as the show was also broadcast 'as live' across Europe.... as with most things, you can get pretty much everything on a boot DVD if you look hard enough.... My version has a bonus audio clip of an acoustic version of Kiss, although I am reliably informed that the Brave release is of better quality.
