Teenagers Respecting Prince

I Had This Thing I Had To Do In English. And It Was To Find A Song And Tell The Teacher What Things That Follows Poetry In It Like A Metaphor and Stuff. (I'm A Sophmore In High School) And I Picked Prince~Money Don't Matter 2 Night

Well Anyway,,,,We Had To Print Out The Lyrics And Give Them To The Class. They Were More Respectful Then I Thought They Would Be. They Told Me To Turn It Up. Even Though One Girl Said "I Can't Listen To Prince It'z Against My Religion." But The Responce Was Very Nice. I Saw A Few Bobbing Heads.

I Suppose I Under Estimated my Fellow Class Mates And Prince *Shrugs*

I wish he'd keep making music to keep people thinking that.

And so spaketh the lord:

"Yet no man listen to or watch thine royal badness, for he is bad, and the lord is good, and if ye be good as well, thy lord's will be done, and not thy purple will"

people are stupid.
"Knowledge is preferable to ignorance. Better by far to embrace the hard truth than a reassuring faith. If we crave some cosmic purpose, then let us find ourselves a worthy goal" - Carl Sagan

To say that it's against any religion to listen to music is untrue and ill-informed. She's full of it.

I did the same thing in High School. Once we had to play songs that had repetition and religious overtones and I decided to play The Cross. My teacher was startled when it started to really rock, and the kids were joking and making Prince noises.

hahahaha funny shit!

Seriously though... Im saddened that any1 can say that listening to music with such a message, whether holy river, head, sister or money dont matter can be against any1's religion.

Id love to know which religion says "though shall not listen 2 Prince... for it may give you insight into love, life, and musical geniousness (is that a word lol)"

I say RESPEKT 2 U Sofmore!
Music is the power.
Love is the message.
Truth is the answer.

I'm a junior in high school and I had to do the very same thing about 2 months ago. I had to pick 3 songs and write a one page essay about the meaning of each one then play a part of each song and read them my essays. I thought I did a pretty good job mixing it up....I picked Little Red Corvette, Controversy, and Gett Off....they actually were really into that one. I didn't want to do anything to 'contemporary' for their first introduction (could you imagine if their first intro to P was from Rave or NPS?) they would've never got it. The amazing thing was that they had no idea that all three were done by the same artist. It was cool to see people vibing to my favorite artist...even if some of them hated it!!! razz
Strange, but I'm more comfortable around you naked.

Actually, I lip-synched Head in front of my entire High School back in '87. biggrin

You see, every month all classes from the school gathered for a get-together where classes took turns entertaining. So when the turn came to my class, we did a show that concluded with me lip-synching Head with one of my female classmates as my dancing foil. It was quite the success. The audience screamed for an encore, so we bowed to their wishes and performed it once again. biggrin
