I'm not trying to be mean or anything and I haven't seen the speeches, however,Alicia Keys and Outkast are far from the most articulate artists I can think of.Why was there not someone else?Or maybe a mix of them and an elder statesman like David Bowie or someone of that ilk?Alicia and Outkast are very talented and I know they are not dumb.I do know that neither of them seem to speak that well or that much ,in the public. They speak more through their music.I just envisioned soemone with a gift of gab speaking of Prince's influence. There is a whole world of people that I could imagine would do a better job.I just wonder who chose them.

i guess it's beacause they served as a link 4 the younger generation...almost every1 who's more than 20, even if not a fan, knows how much prince gave 2 music...but kids need some1 2 relate to (have i just used the right word ' relate'?i prefer 2 xpress myself in italian)...outkast & alicia keys they're appropriate in this sense...outkast & u2 , alicia keys & depeche mode would have been damn cool!

Who would you have suggested?

... just curious.

Because I felt the same way. I know AK and A3000 were the "hot" people to ask right about now, but there had to be someone much closer to Prince, or more meaningful, that he would have wanted. I'm sure Prince had some say about who presented... but I'm sure the station had more say as to who would bring in the ratings...

Personally, I'd have liked to have seen Stevie Wonder, Eric Clapton or Spike Lee induct him.. or hell, even Dick Clark or Bryant Gumble. Someone more articulate who could've mentioned his contribution to the industry...

Aren't the people who induct the artists supposed to be younger than the artist they induct?
It seems to me that Prince spoke quite eloquently for himself with his musicianship.

They are Hip and cool and cite Prince as an Influence. I think that's why. Plus yes for the Younger Generation.

In that case, why did Bruce Springsteen induct Jackson Browne?

Actually I think Springsteen is younger than Jackson Browne lol

I think Alicia Keys induction speech was fantastic. I really can't think of anyone better to do it. She was very articulate. She actually reminds me of Prince in many ways!
Making love and music are the only things worth fighting for.
