Prince was inducted into the Rock and Roll
Hall of Fame this week and publicly renounced
his sexually explicit past. It looks like he's
about to say goodbye to his iconic studios
Paisley Park soon as well.

Sony and Time Warner are making multi-million
dollar bids for the huge complex to turn it into
an "American Music Hub" which they think can
cut their recording budgets considerably, not
to mention turning Paisley Park into a
modern day Graceland-style tourist attraction.

To be fair...the place has been a commercial disaster for him...I can't imagine it has ever turned a profit as a working recording studio

PP could be profitable, with as little an effort as letting it be known that
it's open for business as a recording studio/rehearsal space/small concert
venue...

If he's getting offers to sell it I'm sure it's not the first time. But I'll believe he's selling it when it's sold.

I have a feeling this might all stem from his JW leanings. I believe they believe that you cant keep somthing that "a sinful life" afforded you. So if you pimped for a living and had a house and car and stuff, you have to get rid of that because you cant live on "filthy luca(sp)" But as long as his soul is ok, its all good.

Well, he seems to be based less and less in MPLS anymore, and that place was home to years of craziness and wild living...I could see it happening. But how sad to drive past the Park one day and think, "that used to be Prince's insane asylum..."

This better not be true. The place is likely paid for by now...so what's the point? He'll generate serious cash from the new tour and CD. I just can't see him give up a great studio and the freedom to record anytime he wants.

I suppose he could work that in as part of the deal...whoever buys it must give him access within 24 hours of his request or something...for free?

I really hope it's not true.

Prince once said he lived in Minneapolis cause he could walk around and be me..Well, if he can No Longer have Fun there he shouldsell it and go someplace else so he can be his Wild and Crazy self again. And he can be Free to Party whenever he wants to.

He's been in L.A. almost full-time since January, hasn't he? And the Sunday MPLS Star Tribune reports that he's in Toronto a lot. I think the lack of isolation, and being in the midst of other talent could be very energizing and inspirational to him. I'd hate to see PP go away, though. I guess we, once again, just sit back and watch!
