Money or nothing: The artist forever known as Prince likes to muse about his spirituality, but he's all business when it comes to hard cash. Movie star Will Smith was among the celebs who were expecting to be let in free to Prince's postmidnight concert at the nightclub Black after Monday's Rock and Roll Hall of Fame gala. The club even reserved a table for Smith and his posse. But I hear that when the actor showed up at the door in the wee hours Tuesday, Prince's reps foiled the staff's attempt to escort him inside. Either Smith had to cough up $80 a ticket, or he couldn't come in, Prince's reps insisted. I'm told that a highly annoyed Smith left. I hear that some media types and other celebs - including Alicia Keys, Chris Rock, Puffy Combs, Lenny Kravitz and Sean Lennon - were lucky enough to be snuck in through the back way.

Not that I believe this story but if it's true, he should have to pay just like the rest of us.

no doubt! he can certainly afford it more than the rest of us!! what is it with celebs wanting everything free . . . they're loaded!! ridiculous!

Agreed. It's amusing how the richest members of society often feel they're entitled to tons of free stuff and then, when they're told they *do* have to pay for something, they get mad.

Funny how I was just going to start a thread on this and checked to see if someone else said it first.

I heard it this morning on the radio from a NY gossip columnist Flo Anthony. She mentioned all that you had said, Ooze. In addition to that, she was mentioning how she wanted to go for free too, but Prince's reps said that the word was that she pay the $80 fee to get in. Well, she goes on about how she's covered him from his days in an afro (which is a lie) until now. They said they would call her back after checking with Prince himself. They called back and said that she could come in for free but if she brought anyone along, they would have to pay. It was funny, too, because she went on to say that, as it was midnight, she would need a limo to come pick her up and the response was a no-go on that, so she didn't go.

Will Smith owes all of us at least $8.50 for sitting through his movies

Will needed to take his ass on somewhere then if he didn't want to pay. I can see him letting Alicia Keys and a few other people he hand-picked to get in, but Will probably ain't even into Prince, he just think he should get in somewhere free because of who he is. Back when The Fresh Prince was still on I use to like Will, but in these later years I can't stand him. He needs Jada to give him that swift kick in the ass.

hell, his fans pay good money 2 see him. its good 2 know that his celeb fans are treated no differently. business is business. 2 bad 4 WILL, i'm sure he missed out on a good show being cheap. being cheap is tacky.

I've even seen it play out on the local level in my city. There are a couple of people I've met locally who won't to go ANY show if they are not on the list. It can be Joe Bozo and his Drunken Bar Band and they simply will not pay like everyone else. They just get off on saying "I'm on the list" to the guy working the door. Even if they're the only one there they will not pay.

I can only imagine that in Hollywood and with real money and careers involved in an industry where perception is everything that its 1000 times worse.

I would've made that n!@@a pay, too, if he showed up late to my party! Plus the fact, what is 80 damn dollars to Will Smith. He spends that in an hour!

I'm not a Will Smith hater, HOWEVER, I remember him hittin the scene as the "Fresh" Prince, as to imply that Prince was nothing and he went on tv saying as much.

Wonder if Prince has the same recollection...

The only good thing Will Smith ever did was Ali the rest is just embarassing... I want my money back for iD4!
