New and improved Purple Rain CD!

I've been digging through the ol' Prince boots and have come across original or extended versions of some of the PR tracks and was wondering what everyone's ultimate PR 2004 CD would look like. Hopefully it'll include the movie version of Let's Go Crazy and uncut Darling Nikki and Computer Blue (w/hallway speech). Of course we'd get Electric Intercourse, God and Father's Song, but what else??

I would most definately put Ronnie Talk To Russia on it.

There's an outtake called 'Wednesday'. I'd also like it 2 include 'Electric Intercourse' and all the B sides and extended versions 'Let's Go Crazy', 'I Would Die 4 U', 'Erotic City', '17 Days', 'Another Lonely Christmas', 'God' (instrumental and vocal). And the full unedited 'Computer Blue' HAS 2 be on there!!!

If they decided NOT to keep the original flow, here's what I would want:

Extended versions of Let's Go Crazy and Purple Rain, add God and Possessed.

Other than that, I'd want all the other extended versions or b-sides on another disc.

Me, neither. I'm not sure it's circulating.

As for Purple Rain, I'd like what you'd all like, BUT... I think the released version of The Beautiful Ones is better than the outtake which is a bit longer, but the edit suits it, so... biggrin

I've seen it suggested in the past that the song 'Wednesday' is the same song as ''There's No Telling What I Might Do', in which case, a short version is circulating.

Uptown's 'Turn It Up 2.0' describes both as piano ballads.

The tape quality is very poor but 'Turn It Up''s description of "There's No Telling ..."
suggests the lines heard include:

" ..... hate it when I'm all alone,
Contemplating suicide from 12 o'clock to dawn,
?????,
..... No Telling What I Might Do"

The description of 'Wenesday' by Susan Rogers suggests that the song would be sung by Jill Jones in the club after it had closed, mourning her unrequited love for The Kid. The line that is quoted in the song is: 'If You Don't Call By Wednesday'

It's possible that the untranscribed line above is something like "If you don't phone by Wednesday."

If anyone knows whether this has been authenticated or that the two songs are entirely different, I'd appreciate it.

Or maybe it will say so in the forthcoming 'The Vault'?

I've always suspected that this is indeed the case, and that this snippet of a song (called "There's
No Telling What I Might Do" by bootleggers, for want of a better title) is in fact a rough portion
of the unreleased "Wednesday". Unfortunately, since the actual track "Wednesday" has never
surfaced, it's impossible to verify. I had heard a rumor that "Wednesday" had indeed been
filmed for Purple Rain, and would have appeared with Jill Jones singing it to herself at the piano
in the empty club just before Prince walks in and she gives him Wendy & Lisa's tape.
