Sometimes It Snows In April

Okay, I know this song was written to coincide with Prince's character, Christopher Tracey's, death in the movie, but was it really inspired by someone's passing in real life? Did Prince write it after he lost someone close to him? confuse

I doubt it. Its a beautiful song, one of my favorites. But my guess is that its just a melodramatic reading of his own "death" as personified by Christopher Tracy. I would be interested to hear if anyone has any info to the contrary however.

If you read the book "Possessed - The Rise and Fall of Prince" it explains how that song obviouslly is in relation to what happened in the movie and the reason his character got killed because for prince it was also a real letting go of this persona that he had at the time as well. Shortly after that he got rid of lisa and wendy and regrouped with new members. That song is pretty emotional but imagine whats going through Princes head when he plays it considering the changes he made in his life after that song. biggrin

So in other words, you belive Prince knew all along (perhaps while composing this song) that he was going to fire Wendy and Lisa, but never told them? Interesting. hmmm
